Putin wanted to show “strength” but only confirmed his weakness.
Overnight, Russia carried out one of the largest terrorist attacks on Kyiv with around 600 drones, many dozens of ballistic, air-ballistic, and cruise missiles, and a dummy IRBM.
Cherkasy, Kharkiv, Kropyvnytskyi, Odesa, Poltava, Sumy, and Zhytomyr regions were also under attack.
As of now, at least two civilian people have been reported killed and many dozens injured. These numbers may grow. Many residential buildings have been damaged.
Unable to achieve any results on the battlefield, Putin turns to terror against civilians.
This strike was probably meant to demonstrate “strength” to the domestic audience, but instead it only confirms Putin’s weakness. Even Russians see that he is a loser.
His “special operation” is not achieving any results. Losses are enormous, but there is not a single achieved goal. Except that there are no safe places in Russia any more, as Ukraine ramps up its special long-range sanctions.
To our allies, I want to say this: it is time to double down, not back down, in supporting Ukraine and increasing pressure on the Russian regime.
We call for additional defense capabilities, including to protect our sky; investment in our defense industry; increased pressure on Russia, including entry ban for Russian combatants, full use of frozen assets; strong political decisions with regard to Ukraine’s EU accession and other steps.
The world has the leverage. It needs to be used right — to show Moscow that such strikes will not bring any results — and force Russia to end this war.
Russia continues to keep Ukrainian prisoners of war in captivity – many of them for more than four years, since the beginning of Russia’s full-scale war. They are held in harsh conditions, facing torture, abuse, and inhumane treatment. Their families and loved ones are waiting for them every day.
Ukrainians continue to remind: bringing everyone back is crucial. We thank international partners who make exchanges of POWs possible. All Ukrainian prisoners of war must return home.

The #Chornobyl disaster stemmed from a #Moscow-ordered reactor experiment conducted in violation of safety rules, followed by lies and cover-ups. A totalitarian system subordinated truth and science to power – and the world is still facing the consequences.
Last week, the Save Ukraine team rescued 8 children and teenagers from occupation. This was made possible thanks to the support of partners within the framework of the President of Ukraine’s initiative, Bring Kids Back UA.
All of them endured pressure, fear, and constant угрозу to their lives — but are finally safe.
Among those rescued:
🔹 17-year-old Sashko, whose home was repeatedly visited by armed FSB officers conducting inspections and searches. After that, he barely left the house, knowing that once he turned 18, he could be forced into the war — compelled to fight against his own country.
🔹 14-year-old Zoryana, who was separated from her father by the occupying authorities. He was unlawfully stripped of his documents and deported, accused of posing a “threat to national security.” The girl was forced to attend a Russian school where children are militarized: classrooms feature so-called “hero desks,” Russian propaganda is promoted, and students are taught how to use weapons.
🔹 17-year-old Hlib, who was subjected to constant exposure to Russian propaganda and militarization at school. Students were fed narratives about “liberation,” shown weapons, and regularly visited by Russian military personnel during lessons. In such conditions, he saw no future and searched for any opportunity to escape occupation.
These children, along with five others rescued by Save Ukraine last week, have now been given a chance at a new life. They are currently staying in Hope and Healing Centers, where they receive psychological support, assistance with documents, housing, and care — everything needed to gradually return to a safe and stable life.
However, hundreds of thousands of Ukrainian children remain in temporarily occupied territories. The occupying authorities continue to intensify pressure, attempt to forcibly mobilize teenagers, and make return routes increasingly difficult.
We are sincerely grateful to our partners Save Ukraine, We are all ukrainians, Humanity, and the Joint Center for the Coordination of Search and Release of Prisoners of War and Unlawfully Detained Persons as a result of aggression against Ukraine for their support and cooperation.
We will continue working until every Ukrainian child is brought back home.

Today, seven Ukrainian children were rescued and brought home under the President of Ukraine’s Bring Kids Back UA initiative.
Six children are from the temporarily occupied Kherson region, and one is from Melitopol.
Among them are children who lost their parents and became orphans, children who could not be evacuated after the start of the full-scale invasion, as well as those whom Russian forces effectively held in temporarily occupied territories and prevented from returning to their families.
Some of the children were subjected to psychological pressure after expressing their desire to leave. Others were kept in institutions or deprived of contact with their families.
This return was made possible thanks to the efforts of the Office of the Ukrainian Parliament Commissioner for Human Rights and the support of international partners.
We also extend our sincere thanks to U.S. First Lady Melania Trump @FLOTUS for her personal attention and support in facilitating the return of Ukrainian children to their families.
We will not stop until every Ukrainian child is brought home.

Since this morning, Russia has been carrying out a new wave of drone and missile attacks on Ukraine's civilian population, targeting residential areas and critical infrastructure across multiple regions, killing at least 1 person.
In the Kyiv region, a drone struck a residential building in Obukhiv, and another attack occurred between a kindergarten and a school in Vyshneve, damaging homes.
In the Poltava region, UAVs damaged private homes and farms in the Myrhorod and Poltava districts. In Sumy, a shopping mall in the city center was damaged, and civilians were injured. Emergency power outages have been introduced in Kyiv, as well as in the Cherkasy and Zhytomyr regions.
Poland raised its aviation and placed air defense and radar systems on high alert due to Russian missiles flying near NATO airspace. These were preventive measures, but they are a reminder of how close this war is to the borders of the European Union and NATO.
The purpose of these daytime strikes is clear. Russia is deliberately trying to increase the number of civilian victims, disrupt life, spread fear, and damage Ukraine’s infrastructure.
Today marks four years since the Kyiv region was de-occupied by the Ukrainian forces. From this day, the world began to learn about the true scale of Russia’s war crimes in Bucha, Irpin, Hostomel, Borodianka, and dozens of villages and towns: mass killings, torture, sexual violence, abductions, destroyed homes, and shattered lives.
Even then, Russia revealed its true face. At that time, it committed its crimes wherever its troops stood. Now, as Ukrainian forces continue to hold Russia back, it carries out the same terror from a distance – through missiles and drones targeting Ukrainian families.
Russia is consistent in the evil it spreads. Coordinated international action against Russia must be even more decisive – to achieve our shared goal of a just and lasting peace.
On April 3, during a massive Russian attack on Ukraine, a veterinary clinic in Chabany, near Kyiv, was struck.
Helpless animals, some receiving treatment and others in temporary care, were trapped inside. Emergency teams worked tirelessly to evacuate them, provide oxygen, and stabilise the injured.
Tragically, not all could be saved. Russia is deliberately targeting all life and must be held accountable for its ongoing crimes. For Ukrainians, every life matters – and we will continue to protect it.
Today is the 1,500th day since Russia launched its full-scale war against Ukraine. What Moscow expected to be a quick victory has turned into a long and costly failure. Instead of achieving its goals, Russia has only deepened its losses and isolation.
The world has seen what Russia truly is: a terrorist state. The only answer to this is unity, sustained pressure, and continued defence support for Ukraine.
I welcome @EU_Commission’s proposal initiating the process for the EU to become a founding member of the Special Tribunal for the Crime of Aggression Against Ukraine.
This move reaffirming the inevitable accountability for Russian crimes is especially valuable now, as we approach the grim anniversary of the Bucha massacre.
The unspeakable horrors of Russian crimes in Bucha, Mariupol, Izyum, and other Ukrainian cities and towns recall the worst atrocities of WWII. They shook the very moral foundations of Europe to their core.
Peace in Europe requires justice for the victims of Russian aggression against Ukraine.
I look forward to the proposal’s swift aproval by the Council and EU member states joining the Tribunal.
Security Service of Ukraine Day is an occasion to reflect on the bold operations that have been carried out in practice—the kind that draw the respect and close attention of counterparts around the world.

I thank all the warriors of the Security Service of Ukraine for defending our state, our independence, and our people!
Ukrainians can rightfully take pride in their Security Service – truly combat-proven, truly patriotic, and truly effective.
The Service’s long-range capabilities, its strength on the frontline, and its countering of Russian sabotage operations and agent networks have, in many ways, become exemplary. Honor and gratitude to everyone who works and fights for this.
And, of course, we remember every warrior and all employees of the Security Service of Ukraine who gave their lives so that Ukraine may endure and be protected.
Glory to Ukraine!

Ukraine is liberating more territory than Russia is occupying — and we are doing so primarily with our own capabilities.
Fact.
In early 2022, while much of the world was still calibrating its response, Ukraine was already liberating Kyiv region and other areas — with limited external support.
Also a fact.
Early, decisive actions did exist. Before February 24, the United Kingdom, Lithuania, Estonia, Latvia, and Canada delivered lethal assistance: Stingers, Javelins, anti-tank weapons, small arms, ammunition. These were not symbolic steps. They were timely.
After February 24, the United States moved first at scale — announcing a $350 million package on February 26. Shortly thereafter, the European Union took an unprecedented step, allocating €450 million for lethal assistance and €50 million for non-lethal support through the European Peace Facility — effectively breaking a long-standing political taboo.
Speed mattered then. It still does.
Today, the international response to threats linked to Iran is faster, clearer, more synchronized.
The capacity for rapid, decisive action has always existed. The difference lies in how quickly it is activated.
Because delays cost territory. Delays cost lives. Timely decisions change outcomes.
Providing Ukraine with a loan using frozen Russian assets was the agreed position of all EU leaders at the end of 2025. The alternative to this step is now up to the European Union.
We will be grateful if they can unblock this format. If they do not, we hope for an alternative that would allow us to access these funds. Otherwise, the Ukrainian army will be underfunded. Drone production – of long-range drones and interceptors – will also be underfunded, as will air defense systems, because we allocate part of those funds to European air defense systems and to the U.S. PAC-3 missiles.
This is a risk for everyone. It is a risk to European security. I believe there will be no collapse, and the Europeans will resolve this issue.
From an interview with Le Monde (5/5).
🔴 Russia launched 982 drones, cruise missiles, and ballistic missiles at Ukraine in less than 24 hours.
Never before have attacks been so massive, nor has the entire country come under fire simultaneously—from Kharkiv to Lviv
