You might notice something strange at the bottom of this shot from VISION QUEST. On the VHS, LaserDisc, and early DVD releases, the film was presented in a full frame or "open matte" format to fill the screen of the 4:3 TVs of the era. This exposed a portion of the 35mm frame that was "matted" (or covered up) for its 1.85:1 widescreen theatrical release.
