It's been a good week! Dr. Jennifer Campbell has been promoted to Associate Professor with Tenure, and Dr. Michael Baker was selected for a TEK Fellowship developing a new course, "Math-Science-Music Interactions," with UK mathematician Dr. Peter Hislop. Kudos to both!
Dr. Jennifer Campbell and Jessica Bayne presented their paper, "Staging Susannah on a University Campus in the Post-Covid-19 and #MeToo Era: A Case Study," today at the Exploring Gender-Based Violence and Femicide in the 20th and 21st Century Conference in Bern, Switzerland!
Congratulations to Michael Baker, whose paper "Karate Kid Pedagogy and Interdisciplinary Priming in the Music Theory Curriculum" has been accepted as a poster presentation for the joint meeting of SMT/SEM/AMS, to be held November 10-13 in New Orleans. Well done, Dr. Baker!

Huge congratulations to one of our Theory TA's, Clint Linkmeyer (DMA candidate, trumpet), for winning a Teachers Who Made A Difference award this year! Clint was nominated by one of his students in his Music Theory for Non-Majors class. We are proud of all our terrific TA's!
(Thanks to guest lecturers Dr. Diana Hallman, Dr. Jenn Salamone, Professor Jill Schinberg, Lu Ann Pelle and Kelly, and Professor Anthonhy Alterio). Final presentations of research papers will take place in the Niles Gallery, Tuesday, 12/10 (2-3:15) and Wednesday, 12/18 (8-10am).
Prior to the Thanksgiving break, students in Dr. Campbell's MUS 772 seminar, Music, Dance, and Performance, participated in a hip-hop workshop led by Anthony Alterio, Assistant Professor of State University of New York at Fredonia.
So far this semester these graduate students have learned choreography for the minuet, tango, swing, and hip hop, as well as participated in a Merce Cunningham/John Cage style "chance dance."
Next semester, Dr. Kevin Holm-Hudson will teach a special MUS 772 Seminar in Music Theory on the music and other creative work of John Cage. Graduate standing in Music required, registration is limited!
