Lead, make sure we have the rule of law, transparency, and that everyone is winning along with us. We can do this together. From the Golden State to the Sunshine State. Make sure that your voice is heard in Washington, D.C. #ULIFlSummit #DestinationFlorida

[ULI Florida @ULIFlorida]

Our economies our interdependent. We are inextricably connected. This cannot be a win/lose environment. What good is it if there are no markets? When California's energy crisis happened, Mexico saved us. Think about Cuba. #ULIFlSummit #DestinationFlorida

[ULI Florida @ULIFlorida]

I was charged with raising $25 million and my friends came together and we raised $42 million to fund the first-woman owned bank in my state. #ULIFlSummit #DestinationFlorida

[ULI Florida @ULIFlorida]

Only in America can we harvest the bounty that I've experienced, and the way to it was through business. We have to look at the pain points and solve them. I encourage you to think about how you want our children to live. #ULIFlSummit #DestinationFlorida

[ULI Florida @ULIFlorida]

This is important to me because my mom was a single parent with six kids from Mexico and we came to the USA. As JFK said, "We don't all have equal talent but we should all have equal opportunity." #ULIFLSummit #DestinationFlorida

[ULI Florida @ULIFlorida]

If you can't import the talent (immigration), why aren't we investing in our local talent? Consider scholarships and education. As a business, think of the human element as much as you do your other assets. #ULIFLSummit #DestinationFlorida

[ULI Florida @ULIFlorida]

If you have a business and you're looking for technical assistance, the SBA can provide you with loans and resources to help your business. #ULIFLSummit #DestinationFlorida

[ULI Florida @ULIFlorida]

I wanted to make sure that jobs went to local Americans, but we needed to be able to finance them. SBIC program from the US gov't will get you a 2-to-1 match to build an even bigger project. #ULIFlSummit #DestinationFlorida

[ULI Florida @ULIFlorida]

We should not have to have bedroom communities that don't have sales revenue, we have to make sure we have inclusionary zoning so we're providing for all levels of the workforce. #ULIFlSummit #DestinationFlorida

[ULI Florida @ULIFlorida]

Immigration: Regulation and secure borders -- we all want to be safe. I believe in preserving our borders, but I also understand that we cannot be a flatlined country and be success. #ULIFlSummit #DestinationFlorida

[ULI Florida @ULIFlorida]

Diversity and human-centered design that improves empathy in our communities, workplace, etc. #ULIFlSummit #DestinationFlorida

[ULI Florida @ULIFlorida]

We have to integrate all these essential building blocks. That we don't dismantle our safeguards but we should be sunsetting some legislation. #ULIFlSummit #DestinationFlorida

[ULI Florida @ULIFlorida]

Technology: At my role at the small business administration, we created a "TechCore" where we challenged them to come up with real-time solutions. #ULIFlSummit #DestinationFlorida

[ULI Florida @ULIFlorida]

Education: Advocating for a layered education, which includes trade schools & community colleges. Hire people at the beginning of their higher education and provide them with opportunities to grow. #ULIFlSummit #DestinationFlorida

[ULI Florida @ULIFlorida]

Facilities: Our courts, prisons, hospitals, civic centers -- where should they be and how do we get people there? How will you provide energy and utilities? #ULIFlSummit #DestinationFlorida

[ULI Florida @ULIFlorida]

To develop a community, you first have to identify the source of water. Water is life. Housing is also fundamental and we are currently having a housing crises. In CA, we passed a record $2.1 billion housing bond. #ULIFlSummit #DestinationFlorida

[ULI Florida @ULIFlorida]

We can't live in isolated situations. Offer incentives & grants that benefit the entire state, not just individual communities. We redefined infrastructure, making sure we thought about the land, & how we could create the economy we wanted. #ULIFlSummit #DestinationFlorida

Maria Contreras-Sweet @MCS4BIZ: My previous roles have helped tremendously, and I believe in public service. #ULIFLSummit #DestinationFlorida
