As part of the nationwide celebrations, JKUT and Chandigarh proudly highlighted their innovative efforts under the ULLAS initiative, promoting adult literacy and creative learning.
In 𝐉𝐚𝐦𝐦𝐮 & 𝐊𝐚𝐬𝐡𝐦𝐢𝐫 (JKUT), 12 participants including Volunteer Teachers (VTs), NEO literate learners, and District Nodal Officers participated in the event at Ambedkar Bhawan, led by ULLAS Nodal Officer Shri Raj Kumar Chadha and Neha Kalra from Samagra Shiksha.
A dedicated stall featured an inspiring display of handmade items and Teaching-Learning Materials (TLMs) created by VTs and learners. The standout attraction: Calico Painting artwork a true symbol of creativity and empowerment.
We are proud to share that Samba District is nearing the milestone of being declared 100% literate in the upcoming FLN̈AT!

Union Minister of State (Independent Charge) for Ministry of Skill Development and Entrepreneurship and Minister of State for Education, Shri @jayantrld addressed International Literacy Day (ILD) 2025 celebration organised by Department of School Education & Literacy (DoSEL), Ministry of Education at Dr. Ambedkar International Centre, New Delhi today. The theme for this year’s celebration was “Promoting Literacy in the Digital Era”, highlighting the pivotal role of digital technology in enabling reading, writing, numeracy, and lifelong learning skills across the country.
On this occasion Union Minister for Education, Shri @dpradhanbjp, delivered a virtual address highlighting India’s progress and vision for universal literacy. Shri Pradhan underscored that literacy goes beyond reading and writing. It is a means to dignity, empowerment and self-reliance.

The occasion was graced by Union Minister for Skill Development and Entrepreneurship (I/C) and Minister of State for Education, Shri @jayantrld, as the chief guest, along with Hon’ble Education Minister of Tripura Shri Kishor Barman and Hon’ble Education Minister of Mizoram Dr. Vanlalthlana. In a video message, Hon'ble Union Minister of Education, Shri @dpradhanbjp, emphasised upon the resolve for a literate, skilled and self-reliant nation while appreciating the progress made by States and UTs towards full literacy. Shri. @sanjayjavin, Secretary, DoSEL, along with senior officials from the Ministry and stakeholders across India, graced the occasion.
The event highlighted the unwavering commitment of DoSEL to advancing literacy through ULLAS – Nav Bharat Saaksharta Karyakram. Key sessions included the launch of “ULLAS Compendium on Teaching Learning Material” and experience sharing by States/UTs, volunteer teachers and neo-literates, along with a special film screening on “Journey towards Full Literacy”.
