TEARGAS CANNOT STOP THE PEOPLE!
UMP today held a successful rally at Mbaranga Village, Karama Ward, where the people turned up with courage and determination to stand with the Party Leader and the movement despite violent attempts by cowards to disrupt the gathering.
We strongly condemn the cowardly firing of teargas and live bullets by goons who sought to stop a peaceful rally.
In less than a month, this is now the third time such attacks have been directed at rallies addressed by the Party Leader.
Today’s incident in Mbaranga left children and elderly men and women injured - an inexcusable act of political intolerance. The matter has severally been reported to the police, yet no meaningful action has been taken.
Even in the face of intimidation, the people of Mbaranga stood firm, and the rally continued to its normal conclusion. We sincerely thank the residents for their resilience, bravery, and unwavering support.
The rally also made a direct impact on the lives of many in the community. A needy family benefited from a dairy cow to strengthen their household livelihood.
Farmers received gumboots to support their work during this rainy season, food supplies were distributed to families, and students benefited from school fees support to help them continue with their education.
Several aspirants for Senatorial, Woman Representative, Member of Parliament, and MCA seats were also present, further underscoring UMP’s admirable strength, grassroots support, and readiness for 2027.
UMP wishes to make it clear that the Party Leader and the entire movement will not be intimidated by cowards. No amount of violence, threats, or disruption will stop the people’s march toward accountable, people-centered leadership.
If anything, these desperate attacks only strengthen our resolve. More rallies are coming, and they will be bigger, stronger, and more determined than ever.
Asanteni watu wa Mbaranga. Asanteni Karama. Nyinyi ni watu wa nguvu!

Despite attempts by a few hired goons to disrupt the peaceful gathering by throwing stones, the people of Limoro stood firm and refused to be intimidated.

KENYA IS NOT A BANANA REPUBLIC
It is deeply disturbing that the Kenya Kwanza regime has made a pattern of using police force to disrupt peaceful rallies addressed by H.E. Hon. Bishop Kawira Mwangaza.
On 11th May 2025, armed police, acting under strict instructions, teargassed unarmed civilians attending a peaceful rally organized by Mwangaza in Igoji, South Imenti.
On Sunday, 18th May 2025, another peaceful rally at Kiguchwa in Tigania East was violently disrupted when armed officers hurled teargas and fired live bullets at her vehicle, forcing wananchi to rescue her.
Yesterday, Sunday 24th May 2026, police again lobbed teargas at a peaceful gathering in North Imenti, hurting several elderly women and children who had attended the rally.
The people of Meru and Kenyans at large are wondering. Male leaders of all political persuasions continue to hold meetings without any disruption.
Why, then, is a woman leader holding peaceful meetings being singled out for teargas and violence? Is this the respect and support for women that the Kenya Kwanza regime claims to uphold?
It is for this reason that today, UMP aspirants, under the leadership of the Secretary General, marched to the office of the OCS at Meru Police Station in Imenti North to demand accountability for the continued violent disruption of peaceful political activities.
The use of teargas against peaceful and unarmed wananchi is a direct attack on democratic freedoms, political tolerance, and the constitutional rights to freedom of expression, assembly, and association.
Kenya is a constitutional democracy, not a banana republic where citizens are punished for gathering peacefully and expressing their views.
Umoja na Maendeleo Party (UMP) therefore calls upon the government to uphold democratic principles, respect divergent political opinions, and immediately stop political violence and intimidation.
We also call upon the leadership of the National Police Service to launch immediate investigations into the officers involved and publicly explain the circumstances that led to the unnecessary and excessive use of force against peaceful citizens.
The Party Leader, UMP aspirants, and the people of Meru remain resolute and unbowed. No amount of intimidation, harassment, or force will silence the people’s voice or stop the growing demand for accountable, people-centered leadership.

COWARDS ARE ALWAYS LOSERS
The Umoja na Maendeleo Party (UMP) thanks the people of Giantune, Ntima West, Imenti North for their courage, resilience, and overwhelming support during today’s rally.
Despite deliberate attempts to disrupt the gathering, including the use of teargas, the people of Giantune stood firm and turned out in large numbers, sending a powerful message that no intimidation can silence wananchi who are united in purpose.
UMP strongly condemns the violence meted out on innocent women, youths, men, and children after the regime of the day unleashed teargas on a peaceful gathering.
Such cowardly acts against unarmed wananchi are unacceptable in a democratic society and only serve to expose the intolerance and desperation of those who fear the people’s voice.
The Party Leader and the entire people of Meru remain unbowed, unwavering, and resolute in the face of this cowardly act. No amount of intimidation will crush the spirit of a people determined to stand for justice, dignity, and accountable leadership.
The rally also made a meaningful impact on the lives of many in the community. Martha, a vulnerable member of the area, received a dairy cow to support her household’s long-term economic stability.
In addition, school fees support was extended to needy students, blankets were distributed to the elderly, gumboots were given to farmers, and food supplies were shared with the wider community.
