#Baraka : À 14 ans, une survivante de Rubaya affirme avoir été amputée des deux bras par les rebelles du M23

À seulement 14 ans, elle rêvait de devenir médecin. Aujourd’hui, elle vit avec une double amputation qu’elle attribue, dans son témoignage, à des combattants du M23 à Rubaya, dans le territoire de Masisi, au Nord-Kivu.

Après avoir été soignée à Masisi-centre, l’adolescente dit avoir poursuivi sa fuite grâce à ses voisins qui ont également sauvé leur vie jusqu’à Baraka dans le territoire de Fizi en province du Sud-Kivu, pour échapper aux violences. Elle affirme aujourd’hui vivre sans soutien adapté et attendre encore d’être enregistrée comme personne vivant avec un handicap.

« Les rebelles du M23 m’ont coupé les bras à Rubaya. J’ai été soignée à Masisi-centre. En continuant à fuir ces rebelles, je me retrouve aujourd’hui ici à Baraka, mais je n’ai pas de soutien », témoigne-t-elle.

À 14 ans, cette jeune fille se retrouve ainsi confrontée à une réalité qui bouleverse son quotidien et compromet le projet professionnel qu’elle nourrissait depuis son enfance : devenir médecin.

Son témoignage rappelle que derrière les affrontements dans l’est de la République démocratique du Congo, des enfants et des familles continuent de porter les conséquences physiques et psychologiques des violences.

Les faits rapportés par l’adolescente constituent de graves accusations qui nécessitent des enquêtes indépendantes afin d’établir les circonstances de sa mutilation et les responsabilités.

Son récit est aussi un appel à une prise en charge urgente des victimes civiles du conflit, notamment des enfants ayant subi des blessures entraînant un handicap permanent.
