Our DRR @SujalaPant joined today's World AI Show @TresconGlobal, along with panels from @dtec_dso, @astramotor & @Kadin_Indonesia. The discussion was a reminder that AI has the potential to accelerate sustainable development if it's inclusive, responsible & people-centered. 🤖🌱
Delighted to join today's conversation at the World AI Show on how we can ensure #AI serves public good. As AI shapes societies & economies, we must ensure this is a just #transition—one where AI is trusted, #inclusive & environmentally #sustainable. @BappenasRI@Kadin_Indonesia
We are deeply saddened by the passing of our colleague, Ratih Saraswati, on 6 July 2026.
Ratih was a valued member of the UNDP 🇮🇩 family, serving with dedication since 2001, making a lasting contribution to our mission. Our thoughts are with her family, friends & loved ones.🕊️

We're exploring the role of Digitalization and AI for the transformation of Indonesia’s villages with @Ditjen_PPDT & @UNDPIndonesia.
Our AI-augmented sense-making process helped connect and collectively leverage programs and investments for people-led village development.

Together with @PerekonomianRI and @SwissAmbID, UNDP launched Phase II of the Sustainable Landscape Program Indonesia (SLPI) this week!🌱
With CHF 1.6 million in funding for 2026–2029, the programme will support #sustainable landscapes and resilient livelihoods across 5 provinces.
Had a fantastic day in Tangkahan & Bukit Lawang, North Sumatra with my team, partners & @UNDPasiapac Director @kanniwignaraja, witnessing elephants & orangutans in their habitat. A powerful reminder that conservation works not only for nature, but also people & local livelihoods.
Concluded my visit to Indonesia this evening with a meeting with H.E. Luhut Binsar Pandjaitan and the Nat Economic Council (DEN) on Indonesia’s ambitious digital transformation agenda.
We focused in on Digital Public Infrastructure (DPI), which is rapidly expanding to a national rollout.
With DPI and the right policy and governance frameworks in place, we exchanged good global practice on AI to extend public services, improve efficiency, and support inclusive growth.
Signed agreement with @UNDPIndonesia to partner w DEN and critical sectors on key aspects of this agenda.
Strategic discussion with H.E. @saktitrenggono@kkpgoid reaffirming 30 years of UNDP–KKP partnership 🇮🇩🌊
From protecting 30% of Indonesia’s waters to scaling seaweed, sustainable fisheries, and coastal livelihoods, the focus now is turning successful pilots to impact at scale.
With this in mind, multiple opportunities ahead in #BlueCarbon, #BlueFinancing #CoralReefInsurance as we work together to grow Indonesia’s #BlueEconomy!
The #LeusurLandscape in Indonesia goes from coast to high mountain, and is home to a unique biodiversity.
Those who care about these forests see its natural riches as more than a lifeline - it is wealth to be protected, grown and managed, so all living creatures in this ecosystem thrived.
Yes, that includes their communities and country!
Proud to share UNDP Indonesia’s Impact Report 2021–2025 🇮🇩

Wrapping up my @UNDPasiapac visit to Indonesia with some reflections from Bukit Lawang in Northern Sumatra, a rainforest in the #GunungLeuser landscape, unique to the cohabitation of tigers, elephant, rhino and orangutan 🐅 🐘 🦏 🦧
A wealth of natural riches to be protected and expanded with jobs and economic growth. When getting the balance right, no contradiction here!
Did you know this is the last place on Earth where four endangered species - orangutans, elephants, tigers and rhinos - still coexist in the wild?
From the rainforests of Bukit Lawang, @KanniWignaraja shares glimpses on how Indonesia is moving beyond isolated conservation efforts toward inclusive, landscape-based and spatial-based approaches that benefit both people and nature... protecting biodiversity while strengthening local livelihoods.
This work is a partnership between @UNDP, @theGEF, and spearheaded by 🇮🇩 Ministry of Forestry.
More on the partnership here: https://t.co/meuEgAxue6
Orangutans! What amazing rare creatures native only to the rain forests of Borneo and Sumatra...critically endangered today.
Efforts are underway w @theGEF@UNDP to ensure they stay with us - national authorities, local communities, intl partners are coming together to play their part. It needs more.
Thx to the amazing forest rangers and community leaders we met today in the rainforests of Bukit Lawang, in North Sumatra, and the 🦧 they protect, for showing us how 🙏🏼
Waste has great economic, social, tech and jobs value. If managed right.
In #Medan, North Sumatra, UNDP works with local government to learn and apply global practice to ensure local waste management turns the corner - from data systems, protections for waste pickers and changing behavior across the waste value chain - to put this #circulareconomy action.
And at TPA Terjun the change is evident and the commitment to clear this debris deck is here!
City governments are closest to people and their realities. They are first responders.
@UNDPIndonesia remains deeply engaged with local and national government and local stakeholders to support locally adapted solutions to tough last-mile challenges.
Warm reception and conversation with Mayor Waas @pemko_medan in #Medan. Thank you for the access and trust in @UNDP
The Sumatran Elephant is a magical creature that is critically endangered today.
Not as gigantic as some of its' other Asian Elephant cousins, but as wise, playful and gentle when feeling safe.
The caring and protections provided by National Forest Authorities, community guardians and forest rangers in North Sumatra are helping. With @UNDP@UNDPIndonesia@theGEF support.
Hopefully more partners can come in to save and grow back their numbers !
Sharing views, with @SaraFOlivella @UNDPIndonesia on pathways to development that carry peoples' prosperity with Nature's wellbeing.
