I stressed today at the joint meeting of the 2nd Committee and #ECOSOC that the resources needed to achieve sustainable development exist, but they are not reaching countries and communities at the scale, speed and affordability required.

The commitments made in Sevilla must be translated into action. Let us seize this opportunity to close the financing gap, accelerate SDG action, and build a more resilient, inclusive and sustainable future for all.” #GlobalGoals #SDGs #2030Agenda https://t.co/baRQCN5kLN

The role of #RuralWomen in our world is crucial, yet they are facing challenges that deeply impact their rights and resilience.
We must take action to support them by:
🗣️ Promoting rural women’s livelihoods, leadership, and rights
💲 Scaling up investments in rural areas
❌ Eliminating discriminatory laws and practices
Let’s empower rural women to build a more equitable, just, and sustainable planet for everyone 🌍 #Beijing30 @UN_Women

On 13 October, the International Day for Disaster Risk Reduction reminds us: #ResilienceStartsAtHome.

No one should have to choose between safety and affordability. Governments, businesses and households all play a part in making homes safer.

Investing in resilient homes protects lives and advances the #SDGs, leaving no one behind. #DRRDay

I delivered today an opening statement at the “High-level Meeting on Pandemic Prevention, Preparedness and Response.” I stressed that pandemics preparedness is crucial for advancing the #2030Agenda. It can advance progress across #SDGs, reduce inequalities and vulnerabilities. This calls for integrated and adequately financed action, with equity and sustained investment in resilient health systems, technology access, prevention and early warning. #GlobalGoals

[UN ECOSOC President @UNECOSOC]

At the Ministerial-Level Meeting of the Ad Hoc Advisory Group on Haiti, I stressed that, as the #2030Agenda for Sustainable Development reminds us, there can be no sustainable development without peace and no peace without sustainable development.

To restore stability in Haiti, we need to address the root causes of instability in a comprehensive, coordinated and sustained manner. This will also require that the Humanitarian Needs and Response Plan is adequately funded.

Our efforts must focus on the most vulnerable to ensure no one is left behind. These include, in particular, women, children and internally displaced persons. #GlobalGoals #SDGs #HaitiCantWait 🔗https://t.co/esDQuww6Lj

[UN ECOSOC President @UNECOSOC]

The voices and priorities of #LDCs must remain at the centre of our agenda. Leaving no one behind must also mean leaving no country behind.

All LDCs must be fully engaged in shaping the Midterm Review of the Doha Programme of Action. Women, young people, civil society, the private sector must be part of the solution. #GlobalGoals #SDGs #2030Agenda 🔗 https://t.co/WA0Gut4LxV

[UN ECOSOC President @UNECOSOC]

With four years to 2030, the path ahead is challenging, but full of opportunity. Progress is possible when ambition is matched by action and partnerships deliver tangible results.
Financing for development and implementation of the Sevilla Commitment are crucial to accelerating progress.
In this regard, I want to highlight the importance of holding a special meeting on debt. Supporting the most vulnerable countries means addressing the debt burden that annihilates their efforts and restricts their development. 🔗https://t.co/j5J03heaFy #FinancingOurFuture #GlobalGoals #SDGs #2030Agenda
