Holden Armstrong is a first year junior Strategic Studies major. He entered the Corps of Cadets this year with a 4 year ROTC Scholarship. He is one of the founding officers of the Debate Team (secretary), and next year he will serve as the HP Blood Drive Chair.
Alex Smith is a senior accounting major and will graduate Summa Cum Laude next month. He is treasurer of Delta Chi, and both the Fundraising and Intramural Chair of Phi Sigma Pi Honor Fraternity. He is also a member of Beta Alpha Psi, and works as a tax intern at Bates Carter.
Emma Etelalahti is a junior accounting major. She is a member of SAAC and the Sustainability Club, plays #2 doubles for UNG’s nationally ranked tennis team, and has made either Dean’s Pres’s List each semester. Emma was a PBC Presidential Honor Roll Gold Scholar twice.
Melony Mead is a freshman art major. She helped create and start up the UNG Cross Stitching Club and serves as their VP. She is a member of the Rock Climbing Club. Melony was selected as the 2017 recipient of the Choate Scholarship. In summer, she works on a Alaskan fishing boat.
Charlotte McDonnold is a senior Art major with concentrations in Photography and Graphic Design. Charlotte is president of the Arts Guild. She won the Social Justice Award in the Hal B Rhodes II Student Exhibition and presented at ARC in 2017 and GRHC in '17 & '18.
Alison Gaynor is a sophomore Marketing major from Hiram High School. She is a member of SGA and Delta Zeta, participated in intramurals, and is aonCorps of Cadets Staff. Alison hopes to commission as an Army officer. She is a jokester and has a deep love for horses and dogs.
Tonight at 7pm is the 6th annual UNG Spelling Bee in Hoag Auditorium. This is not your typical spelling bee! There will be raffle prizes for the audience and honors students receive 1 hour of service hours for attending.
Morgan Heyde is a second year senior studying Mathematics/Mechanical Engineering. Morgan is secretary of the Math Club and has served for two years on the Student Council Committee. Morgan will be transferring to complete the engineering portion of her degree this year.
Next Tuesday March 6th is the 6th annual Spelling Bee. It will be at 7pm in Hoag Auditorium. Admission is free, but donations are welcome. All the proceeds benefit the Lumpkin County Literacy Coalition. We would love for members of the college and larger community to come!
Michelle Vatral is a senior art marketing major, the Honors Program’s VP and Design Chair, President of Hawkapellas, director of 2018’s Vagina Monologues, member of DFEM, a Student Ambassador, Orientation Leader, MSA Diplomat for Diversity, and 2018 Hyams nominee. Go Michelle!
Jillian Jay is a senior bio pre-med major and HP Fundraising Chair. She won the Gilman for study abroad in India, Sri Lanka, Thailand, and Cambodia. She presented at the GA Academy of Family Physicians Conference. She is intelligent, pleasant, quick witted, and supportive.
Alex Chastain is a sophomore majoring in international affairs. Alpha Company squad leader and acting platoon sergeant, he was awarded the opportunity to attend a conference on law of armed conflict in Turin, Italy in summer 2017. He spends time outdoors and achieving his 4.0.
Alex Franklin is a freshman Biochem major. She is the freshman rep for Nighthawks Entertainment and member of NG Serves and Alpha Gamma Delta. She won the Most Outstanding Student Award (and the corresponding scholarship to attend UNG) at Summer Honors in 2016.
Erin Hagebusch is a nursing major and the current Junior Representative on the Honors Council. She is a member of the Corps of Cadets and serves as 1st Battalion Chaplain. She won a 2 year ROTC scholarship, and plans to commission into the Nurse Corps in 2019.
Caroline Brown is a senior chem major with a biochem concentration. Our Representative at Large, she is a CURCA Ambassador, on the BCM Missions Team and the Society of Chemistry Students's president. She is kindhearted and studious and works with Dr. Wang in enzymology research.
Taylor Malasek is a freshman biology/pre-med major. A member of the UNG Soccer team, she finished her 1st season with 12 goals. At the Peach Belt Conference tournament banquet in the fall she was recognized as Freshman of the Year. She was on the president's list last semester.
Yannik “Nick” Glaser is a senior computer science major and psych minor from Baden-Württemberg, Germany. He is President of UNG's Habitat for Humanity and a computer science tutor while taking 24 credit hours. He is a kind, outstanding individual who takes obligations seriously.
Amanda Kelley is a sophomore criminal justice major. She is a member of Academic Team, played on the intramural soccer team called The Passers, and is most interested in working in Crime Scene Investigation. She enjoys crime shows, superheroes, and has a love of sarcastic humor.
