We are witnessing a new humanitarian crisis emerging in Yemen. In few days, 125,000+ people been displaced inside the country. 2400 have crossed the sea as refugees in Djibouti. Millions were already forced out of homes even before latest fighting.
Escalating conflict in Yemen is driving new displacement and refugee arrivals in Djibouti.
More than 100,000 people have been displaced in Yemen, while more than 2,400 people have arrived in Djibouti from Yemen this week in search of safety.
Civilians must be protected.
Humanitarian aid must reach those in need.
Professional basketball player Wenyen Gabriel returned from his first trip to South Sudan as UNHCR Goodwill Ambassador. He carried the hopes and dreams of the young people he met there.

In Mali, I met families forced to flee conflict, yet determined to rebuild their lives with dignity. With support from communities, partners and UNHCR, refugees are gaining opportunities to become self-reliant and shape their own futures. Hope grows when people are given a chance.

At Switzerland’s Federal Asylum Centre in Bern, High Commissioner @BarhamSalih met refugees and heard about their experiences navigating the asylum system & rebuilding their lives. Their meaningful participation is key to ensuring asylum systems are humane, fair and effective.
