After he leaves to the United States where he meets Laura Simms a writer passioned by his history. Today Ishmael lives in New York

When he is 15 years he is demobilize thanks to the pression of UNICEF. He is placed in a center of rehabilitation during eight month.

But with time all this crimes becomes normal. And as he says" killings become daily and when you're doped you don't realize"

Between his 13 and 15 year, he was a soldier and he learned to use weapons. He assists to murders, rape. Firstly he is shocked.

And the only way to survive in this country at war,is to become a child soldier like millions other child.

In 1996, a war breaks out in Sierra Leon. All the Ishmael's family is killed at the beginning of the war and he has just 13 years.
