UNOPS has a zero tolerence, zero harm to people and zero harm to unsafe practices. Occupational health and safety is at the heart of safety and safety at the heart of what we do. #worldsafetyday
This World Day for Safety & Health at Work, we reaffirm a simple principle, driven by Goal Zero…
Every worker has the right to a safe & healthy workplace, with zero harm to people & zero tolerance for unsafe practices.
Our Deputy ED @KoneSonja highlights how this commitment guides operations in even the most complex environments, from fragile settings to climate-exposed regions.

In #Conakry 🇬🇳, a road is rarely just a stretch of asphalt
For many, it is the first step towards safety, sustainable livelihoods & a better life 🛣️
For Barry, it meant his business tripled in two years. Now, he’s mentoring youth, giving them skills to build a future at home.
It’s been #3YearsTooLong. A brutal civil war that’s left communities across #Sudan utterly devastated.
Civilians are still being killed. The healthcare system has largely collapsed. Extreme poverty is rapidly increasing. And we’re witnessing the world's largest displacement and hunger crisis, with +24 million people facing acute food insecurity.
Enough. Let’s not allow this to be an abandoned crisis.
The international community must urgently step up support – to help find the solutions needed to end this conflict, protect civilians, and avert a further humanitarian catastrophe.

💧 #WorldWaterDay
Across Africa, @UNOPS works with governments and partners to restore WASH services, build climate-resilient infrastructure and expand urban water systems.
From Tigray to Freetown, water access is transforming lives and strengthening #resilience and #Equality.
🌳🌳 On today’s International Day of Forests @UNOPS renews its commitment to protect world's forests and the people living in them.
Forests are essential to provide ecosystem services - capturing CO2, protecting biodiversity and providing clean air and water. But forests also drive economic prosperity and generate jobs.
We must protect forests and we must support the people who live in them to have basic services.
A special emphasis is needed on tropical forests: 1) They regulate the systems we all rely on. 2) But the dramatic loss of tropical forests further enhances climate change, biodiversity loss and water insecurity.
That’s why it is so crucial to fully implement the truly ambitious “Tropical Forest Forever Facility” launched at #COP30 in #Brazil.

“When a woman shares her story with another woman, she feels heard, not judged. I want to be that person who listens and acts.”
More women police means stronger trust & better access to justice.

In a world facing growing uncertainty and conflict, the need to advance rights and justice for women & girls is urgent.
@UNOPS_Chief Jorge Moreira da Silva and Deputy Executive Director @KoneSonja share their message for #IWD2026.
Join us in welcoming @UNOPS new Regional Director for Africa, Mr. @sanjaymathur_my. With more than 30 years of experience within UNOPS, Mr. Mathur is in fact returning where his career began, in #Africa. Welcome back!
The escalation in the Middle East is having a devastating toll on civilians & civilian infrastructure.
Civilians are as ever the first & most to suffer: children, older people & ordinary men & women.
They pay the heaviest price in conflicts not of their making.
All wars have laws & they must be respected by all parties at all times.
