@RepBethVanDuyne@NASA@LifeNetHealth We're excited about the transformative potential of drone transport of donor organs for transplant. Thanks for your support!
UNOS thanks @SenateHELP for passing the Charlotte Woodward Organ Transplant Discrimination Prevention Act today. We urge the full Senate to pass this important bill that enhances access to transplant for patients with intellectual disabilities!
UNOS supports @CMSGov ' updated IOTA model to increase kidney transplants. These changes are an important step toward maximizing the use of deceased donor kidneys and expanding access for the 100,000+ people waiting for a lifesaving transplant.
Today we launched UNOS’ partnership with @NASA_Langley to explore how drones could transport organs faster, safer, and more efficiently. By combining NASA’s flight expertise with UNOS’ transplant system knowledge, we’re working to strengthen the nation’s transplant logistics network—and save more lives.
Thank you to @NASA_Langley, Richmond Mayor Danny Avula, and district staff representing @MarkWarner and @JennMcClellanVA for joining us and supporting innovation in health and public service. Read more: https://t.co/4eQFD6yNT6

UNOS celebrates today’s passage of the Consolidated Appropriations Act, 2026 (H.R. 7148), which advances every element of our advocacy agenda. These policies will strengthen organ donation and transplantation for patients and save more lives.
We thank the U.S. Senate and U.S. House leaders, @SenCapito (R-WV) and @SenatorBaldwin (D-WI) and U.S. Reps. @Robert_Aderholt (R-AL) and @rosadelauro (D-CT), for championing these life-saving policies. Get the details here: https://t.co/3668Ecb5cH
By cutting red tape, we can help more lifesaving organs reach patients in need. This week I was encouraged to see @CMSGov adopt reforms that follow the approach we laid out in the Removing Burdens From Organ Donation Act.
The U.S. performed a record 49,064 organ transplants last year, marking the fifth consecutive year of growth.
At the same time, deceased organ donations dipped and kidney transplants declined slightly, highlighting the urgent need to ensure trust and improve the donation and transplant system. Learn more 👉 https://t.co/xEZrzna0Hu
Thanks to @HouseGOP and @HouseDemocrats for passing the FY26 Labor-HHS bill this week! Key wins that will strengthen organ donation and transplantation: HHS fee authority, automated donor referral, better organ transport and improved kidney transplant access.

Under our extended contract with the federal government, UNOS maintains several of the responsibilities we have historically carried out for the OPTN, while other tasks have transitioned to HRSA or other contractors. We’ve outlined what tasks remain within UNOS’ scope and what has shifted here: https://t.co/tyHOZa1ooW
Recent remarks by representatives of HRSA have inaccurately portrayed UNOS’ role, performance and commitment to coordination.
To set the record straight, UNOS has released a statement addressing these mischaracterizations and clarifying the facts about our engagement with discovery contractors, UNet new user access and the OPTN registration fee.

Under our extended contract with HRSA, UNOS will continue handling some of the responsibilities we have historically performed, while other tasks will now be overseen by HRSA or other contractors.
We’ve created a helpful table outlining what remains under UNOS’ scope and what has shifted. Learn more here: https://t.co/4j4dGuaJn1
UNOS has reached an agreement with HRSA on a contract for OPTN work that will take effect on Dec. 30, 2025, immediately following the expiration of our current contract. This agreement ensures that IT system operations will continue, allowing patients to be matched with lifesaving organ transplants without interruption.
While we are pleased to continue supporting the nation’s organ donation and transplant system’s IT and data services, we are disappointed HRSA declined to include transition language to safeguard patient safety and policy support beyond Dec. 29, 2025. Read our full statement: https://t.co/e8Mh9Vj3xp
