When I served as Texas Commissioner of Higher Education, I was proud to work with state policymakers, college leaders, and employers to develop a set of comprehensive community college finance reform that became HB8. The reforms we developed keyed off the ambitious state goals we set in our Building a Talent Strong Texas plan for producing credentials of value. Read my April 8 op-ed arguing that we need to continue moving forward with outcomes-based finance formulas that support meaningful economic opportunities for all students.

I was grateful to spend time with the Hunt family and UNT Board of Regents Chair Carlos Munguia this week for the naming of the Norma Knobel Hunt Stadium. We were honored to have them with us on this momentous day for our Mean Green family!

Yesterday, we renamed our soccer and field and track stadium after the "original soccer mom" and @UNTsocial alum Norma Knobel Hunt. It was a joy to hear her family's tributes to their mother and we are honored our stadium will carry her name.
