Led by the UAE,  Zeyed Sustainability Prize @ZSP_ORGhas a long track record of supporting practical, scalable solutions that help more people access and manage water more effectively.

🇷🇼 In Rwanda, 2026 finalist IRIBA Water Group is using solar-powered smart water ATMs to expand access to safe drinking water, reaching more than 517,000 people through 203 installations.

🇺🇬 In Uganda, 2026 winner Kyanja High School is developing a circular, zero-waste farming system that combines aquaculture and duck farming to make better use of water and resources.

These projects show how innovation is creating smarter ways to source, manage, reuse, and conserve water.

عقدت سفارة الدولة لدى جمهورية جنوب أفريقيا، بالشراكة مع معهد الدراسات الأمنية (ISS)، اجتماعاً تشاورياً لأعضاء السلك الدبلوماسي في بريتوريا، في إطار الاستعدادات لـ مؤتمر الأمم المتحدة للمياه 2026، الذي تستضيفه دولة الإمارات وجمهورية السنغال بشكل مشترك في أبوظبي خلال الفترة من 8 إلى 10 ديسمبر 2026.

The Abu Dhabi Fund for Development (ADFD) is working with the Government of Rwanda to expand water transmission and distribution infrastructure connected to the Karenge Water Treatment Plant.

💧 36,000 m³ of additional daily water treatment capacity provided by the construction of a water treatment plant
🇦🇪 AED 92 million (USD $25 million) in financing from ADFD
🏙️ Helping strengthen water security and expand access to clean water for communities in Kigali

This project is part of the UAE’s wider commitment to catalyse and stabilise water infrastructure projects across the world to promote economic and social progress for all.

This partnership is a perfect example of what it means to translate political will into practical action. It demonstrates a model where capital is aligned with national priorities to advance and scale water infrastructure projects.

As Japan and Egypt Co-Chair 'Water for Planet’ Interactive Dialogue for the 2026 UN Water Conference, these two nations demonstrate dedication and tremendous effort to providing pathways and opportunities to bring together different perspectives to identify practical, scalable solutions that will improve lives and accelerate progress on SDG 6.

مياه سلام.

تشير مذكرة سياسات جديدة صادرة عن مركز جنيف للمياه (Geneva Water Hub)  أن "المياه من أجل السلام" تمثل الخيط الجامع بين الحوارات التفاعلية الستة لمؤتمر الأمم المتحدة للمياه 2026.
فحين تُدار المياه بعدلٍ واستدامة،فإنها تسهم في بناء الثقة وتعزيز التعاون ودعم الازدهار المشترك وصون كرامة الإنسان. أما حين تُحجب أو تُلوَّث أو يُفرط في استهلاكها أو تُستخدم كسلاح، فإنها تعمّق الهشاشة والإقصاء والمعاناة.

الرسالة واضحة: لا سلام دون ماء، ولا ماء دون سلام.

Water is Peace.

A new Geneva Water Hub policy brief argues that Water for Peace is the unifying thread across all six Interactive Dialogues of the 2026 UN Water Conference.

When water is governed fairly and sustainably, it can build trust, strengthen cooperation, support shared prosperity, and protect human dignity. When it is withheld, polluted, overused, or weaponised, it can deepen fragility, exclusion, and suffering.

The message is clear: there can be no peace without water, and no water without peace.

As the world looks towards Abu Dhabi in December 2026, the challenge is to turn this recognition into practical legal, financial, institutional, and diplomatic action.

Water connects every part of our planet. It shapes ecosystems, supports biodiversity, and helps communities withstand floods, droughts, and other climate-related risks.

Water for Planet, one of the six Interactive Dialogues at the 2026 UN Water Conference, will be Co-Chaired by Egypt and Japan, bringing together different perspectives and practical solutions across climate resilience, environmental protection, source-to-sea management, and disaster risk reduction.

But SDG 6 is about more than water. Progress on water and sanitation unlocks progress across every other Sustainable Development Goal, from health, education, and equality to food security, economic growth, resilient cities, and climate action.

In December 2026, the UN Water Conference will bring the world together in Abu Dhabi to accelerate action and implementation of SDG 6.

The United Nations’ Sustainable Development Goals, or SDGs, are 17 global goals to improve lives, protect the planet, and build a more sustainable future for everyone.

SDG 6 focuses on clean water and sanitation. It calls for everyone to have access to safe water, sanitation, and hygiene, while protecting and managing the water systems that communities and economies depend on.
