A great #3d scan from @view0608 - one photo is a #pointcloud from an @EveryPointIO scan...the output is 4.3 cm voxel size. The other photo is his walking path around the scene and the stills used. I'm running it on our cloud at 1 cm to see what details we see. Great work Tomo!

As another exciting test, I used the iPad Pro's LiDAR sensor to scan a house. The results are really cool! Of course there are artifacts, but it's fun to look at! With the sensor's limited range, I couldn't scan above the 2nd floor. Link to the 3D model: https://t.co/HXc7xmBj3z
At the moment, photogrammetry would be a better option to reconstruct outdoor scenes at a wide range of scales. For instance, here's a small pine cone that I modeled a while ago using an iPhone video: https://t.co/4zM9nL4mlB
As another test of the new iPad Pro's LiDAR sensor, I wanted to see how well it would do on fine structures. I got close to some tree roots, but there appears to be a minimum voxel size that ARKit uses behind the scenes (as well as smoothing) as the results were not impressive.
