Did you know we have our own bottle bank on site? We recycle all of our glass bottles and have it emptied a few times throughout the year-thanks @URMltd for sorting! Make sure to put return your bottles or put them in our mini wheelie bin for glass 🍾 #GoingForeGreen#recycle
We're delighted to play our part. It's great being part of this team. Brilliant work all round.
The #glass collected today will be back on shelves next month ♻️
We love the new banks, they look great, well done to all involved. We look forward to seeing them fill up, and we'll be there to empty them 👏♻️🍾#Glass#Recycling
It's great to see the new glass banks being put to good use!
Did you know there are close to 400 glass bank sites across the city and many people live within just 500m of one?

Last year, in Leeds, we recycled over 12,000 tonnes of glass bottles and jars in the 700 glass banks that are dotted around the city. This is 37% more than the year before! Nice one Leeds ♻️💚
Let's keep on recycling! Find your nearest glass bank here: https://t.co/PfCua7Bbni

Have you ever wondered what your bottles and jars look like when they're separated into different colours, ready to be added to the mix to make new bottles and jars?
Wonder no more!
Thanks to @URMltd for this photo from the Knottingley site where glass from Leeds goes next!

Thanks to the @URMltd team for hosting us at their #Knottingley site yesterday. It’s truly amazing how they turn mixed recycled glass back into separate colours so we can remelt it back into new glass bottles and jars! ♻️♻️♻️
So why does it make sense to recycle our glass? Making new glass products requires significant amounts of heat. Glass furnaces typically operate at ~1500C, 24-7. Making glass from from recycled instead of raw material uses less energy & releases less CO2 https://t.co/tEjj4N4hXg
If each of us does our bit, it soon adds up! Glass banks across Leeds saw massive increases in the amount of glass recycled during 2020. Across the city the amount of glass we recycled last year was up by an incredible 37%! Thank you for doing your bit! https://t.co/EXBMowWi5A
