"Our frontiers were shaped by Scots-Irish - that proud, hearty clan from the hills of Ulster that gave us Davy Crockett and Mark Twain and Teddy Roosevelt and Neil Armstrong" Secretary of State Marco Rubio. https://t.co/3mWhfbT3c5
Last night we celebrated 250 years of American independence with an exceptional showcase of food and drink from across the United States. Thank you to all the U.S. food and drink associations whose support helped make this a fantastic celebration of American food and culture.
Early emigrants from the Cullybackey area played a vital role in events that shaped the American nation. Honored to join @CullybackeyCP , @CommunitiesNI & @mea_bc in launching a new exhibition that brings this story to life. @Freedom250
I spoke with members of the British-American Project recently about my impressions after serving over one year as Ambassador to the UK, and celebrating 250 years of American Independence. It is groups like this that are the true strength of our alliance - a diverse cross-section of emerging leaders that are working to enrich the partnership between our two countries.
Minister @GordonLyons1 has launched another milestone in the #USANI250 journey – ‘Ulster American Treasures: The Migration Story’, the latest publication by @PRONI_DFC. 🇺🇸

The U.S. Embassy in London and the Consulates General in Edinburgh, Belfast, and Hamilton will be closed on Monday, May 25, 2026 for Memorial Day. On Memorial Day, we honor the brave men and women who made the ultimate sacrifice for our freedom. Their courage and dedication will never be forgotten.
In 1760, John Simpson left his humble whitewashed cottage near Ballygawley for Ohio. His great grandson was a commanding general in our civil war before becoming our 18th President. Grateful to @MidUlster_DC for planting a tree at Ulysses Grant’s lovingly restored Presidential Homestead in honor of our semi-quincentennial. #Freedom250 #USANI250
Today marks exactly one year since Harriet and I arrived in the UK, and what a year it has been! From trade deals, two visits to the UK from President Trump, including an historic second State Visit, to hosting the Vice President, the Speaker of the House, eight Cabinet secretaries, and a host of senior officials.
Throughout it all, I have been working to deliver @POTUS@RealDonaldTrump’s priorities of making Americans safer, stronger, and more prosperous through our work with the UK, while affirming the shared values that bind our countries.
As we celebrate 250 years of American independence, I am excited to lead @USAinUK in continuing to build on these strong foundations in the coming year. There is truly no partnership like ours, and I am honored to serve and strengthen it every day as U.S. Ambassador to the UK.
Harriet and I were pleased to attend a special evening at the Royal Over-Seas League where I spoke about the deep and integrated partnership between the U.S. and UK. So many of the world’s prevailing ideas, technological innovations, economic revolutions, and realignments have originated in our two countries. Many of those world-changing ideas, we have developed together. As we celebrate the 250th year of America’s founding and look toward the future, the United States is committed to supporting a prosperous United Kingdom.
@SelectUSA is a flagship @CommerceGov program facilitating over 2700 business investors from 100+ countries. Great to have @Economy_NI Minister @CArchibaldSF & Northern Ireland companies there to explore huge opportunities for investment & growth 🇺🇸
Economy Minister Dr @CArchibald_SF is pictured in Washington with @InvestNI Head of Americas, Andrea Haughian, and Head of Exports Moira Loughran, where she is supporting local companies @SelectUSA, the highest profile foreign direct investment event in the US.
Minister Archibald will also attend a number of joint engagements with her southern counterpart Peter Burke TD, and will be meeting with business and political leaders to highlight our region’s strengths and bolster economic ties.
In this special @Freedom250 year, we’re remembering local pioneers at the forefront of industry as well as our revolutionary war. James Gamble left County Fermanagh for Ohio in 1819, co-founding Proctor & Gamble. Honored to attend the unveiling of a blue plaque in his honor in Enniskillen yesterday. https://t.co/fcl60blJvU
On This Day In History (1791), our 15th President James Buchanan was born. His parents emigrated from Drumragh near Omagh, eight years prior. The Ulster American Folk Park located close-by does excellent work to promote our deep, shared history. Great to connect with its General Manager John-Paul Coyle last week. #Freedom250 @NatMuseumsNI
It was a pleasure to welcome First Lady Cecilia Abbott to the U.S. Embassy in London to discuss the official launch of the State of Texas United Kingdom and Northern Ireland Office, a major milestone that will deepen U.S.-UK economic ties. As the UK is already a top investor in Texas, this new office will serve as a vital bridge for business, innovation, and shared prosperity.
I strongly condemn the recent appalling arson attacks targeting Jewish communities in London and hope the perpetrators will be swiftly brought to justice. I am grateful to the police, fire services, and local authorities for their rapid and professional response. We will continue to work closely with the Jewish community and UK Government to confront the rising antisemitism that is pervading our societies.
Easter closure notice: The U.S. Embassy in London and the Consulates General in Belfast and Edinburgh will be closed on April 3 and April 6. The U.S. Consulate General in Hamilton will be closed on April 3. Normal operations will resume on the next business day.
