Doing justice isn’t a job, it’s a mission. We drove down violent crime, held the powerful accountable, and left the district safer than we found it. The work continues, following the facts without fear or favor. It’s been an honor to carry the torch.✌🏽- US Attorney Michael Easley
Rocky Mount has seen huge success, with homicides plummeting 67% since 2022. Grateful for the shout-out, but the officers, agents, and prosecutors made it happen! 🇺🇸@RockyMountPD @NashCountySO @EdgecombeCoSo @ATFCharlotte https://t.co/DNc3zqBnGa
“It has been the highest honor to serve as the top federal law enforcement official for Eastern North Carolina – a place I was born, raised, and am proud to call home,” Easley said.

Homicides are down in Fayetteville. Our communities and law enforcement feel stronger, safer, and supported. Great results come from a team approach, where every stakeholder has a role to play: community, reentry, schools, law enforcement, and DAs.

We’re hammering down on Gunrunners and Straw Purchasers who buy guns specifically to arm violent felons and criminal enterprises. We won’t let criminal gunrunners use our state to fuel violence here or across the country.

And we aren’t slowing down.

Dir. Dettlebach @ATFHQ departs this month. He helped drive down violent crime, shut down gangs and cartels, and keep machine guns off our street. When we needed agents for our violent crime task force, he came through. He made NC safer. - Michael Easley, US Attorney
Violent crime can only be addressed through close partnerships with local law enforcement and the community to address the most pressing public safety needs. Set priorities and follow through together.

Money talks. And we will follow every lead it gives us. Cartels think they can dodge American jurisdiction while using our financial system to wash criminal proceeds. Our Illicit Finance Task Force will deal a hard blow to any network running dirty money through our state.
