The USC Brain Tumor Center at Keck Medicine of USC offers GammaTile Therapy, a surgically targeted radiation treatment placed at the time of tumor removal for select patients with brain tumors. USC has been recognized as a GammaTile Center of Excellence, offering this advanced treatment option for patients with tumors such as glioblastoma, meningioma, and metastatic brain tumors.
To learn more about GammaTile and the growing evidence behind this technology, take a look at this recent Wall Street Journal article: “Radiation Device Placed in Brain Cuts Tumor Recurrence, Boosts Survival.” The article highlights new randomized clinical trial data showing that GammaTile, a small radioactive implant placed in the tumor cavity during surgery, reduced local tumor recurrence and improved two-year survival in patients with operable brain metastases (Link in Bio).

🔬Today, on Clinical Trials Day, we honor the extraordinary role clinical trials play in advancing medicine and creating new possibilities for patients and families. 🔬
Behind every breakthrough is a clinical trial—and behind every clinical trial is a dedicated community of researchers, physicians, coordinators, and, most importantly, patients.
Clinical trials are where hope meets evidence. Where innovation is tested, discoveries take shape, and the future of care begins.
We are deeply grateful to the patients who participate in clinical research, to the teams who make these studies possible, and to all those committed to pushing science forward in pursuit of better treatments and better outcomes.
At the USC Brain Tumor Center, we remain steadfast in our commitment to continuously expand our clinical trials portfolio and accelerate research efforts until there is a cure.

This past Saturday, the USC Brain Tumor Center was proud to participate in the National Brain Tumor Society 5K, standing alongside patients, survivors, caregivers, families, advocates, clinicians, and researchers in support of the brain tumor community. We were especially honored that Frances Chow, MD, and Gabriel Zada, MD, were selected to deliver the welcome remarks, helping open the event with a message of hope, collaboration, and shared purpose. Our sponsorship of this meaningful event reflects the USC Brain Tumor Center’s continued commitment to advancing brain tumor research, expanding awareness, and supporting patients and families beyond the walls of the hospital. Being present at events like this is an important reminder that progress is made not only through science and clinical care, but also through community, advocacy, and the collective determination to improve outcomes for all those affected by brain tumors.
