A result of #FATCA is that I have to pay $2350 to have my own government protect my personal data. This of course sounds totally misconstrued, but from my perspective this is exactly what is happening. #citizide

@Trokani1Trokani @CrossBriton Agreed, the banks cannot do much else than be compliant with relevant legislation. This is about taking back ownership to my own data. Moving banks is the only way to "delete" the personal data that has already been sent abroad (account info). Or at least make it outdated.

I used to be a VIP-client with my bank. The first order of business when I am no longer a US Citizen will be to move my entire financial life to another bank. A statement for me. A cost of doing business for them. #fatca #citizide

I used to get calls from my bank on a regular basis regarding new financial offerings. Since they asked me about my birthplace (and I answered truthfully), the only calls I'm getting are threats to close my accounts. #fatca

I'll give a point to the US for treating me as _their_ citizen only, totally disregarding my other citizenship (aka the real citizenship). The same cannot be said for my home country. #fatca

After having lived as a citizen by birth my whole life in my home country (except the first two years), it is quite disturbing to now be treated as a foreigner by my own government. #fatca

As an Accidental American with no real ties to the US, voting in the US elections would for me be like voting in any foreign country. None of my business. Like I am not any of their business.

As an Accidental American I am supposed to spend large amounts of time and money to pay for a privilege I do not want, for rights I do not need, for services I do not get, for representation I do not have. Under constant threat of insane fines for trying to do the right thing.
