Travelers shouldn’t have to face high prices and limited flight options to reach our nation’s capital. After all, DCA has the capacity to handle more flights.
Congress: It’s time to stand up for consumers and modernize the outdated perimeter rule.
For the first time in more than 10 years, air travelers have NEW direct flight options to & from our nation’s capital at DCA.
Special thanks to @SenTedCruz for your commitment to expanding access at DCA & prioritizing consumers!

United Airlines was once opposed to adding more options for travelers at DCA. Thankfully, that was then and this is now. In a win for consumers, the entire airline industry has come together to support more flights at DCA. @7NewsDC has more:
NEW: With President Biden's signature, greater access to the nation's capital becomes the law of the land. A historic addition of 5 new daily flights at DCA has been signed into law!

BREAKING: The U.S. House makes it official and approves five new flights at DCA in the FAA Reauthorization bill. This is a momentous victory for travelers in every corner of the nation, and we look forward to President Biden signing this bill into law. https://t.co/7MfLFiPxuo
BREAKING: The U.S. Senate voted today to authorize five new flights at DCA as part of the final FAA Reauthorization bill. This is a tremendous win for air travelers across the country who will benefit from greater access to the national capital region! https://t.co/kVg0IJgybN
The airports of our nation’s capital are owned by American taxpayers, and overseen by @MWAAHQ.
But recently obtained documents reveal who MWAA is really looking out for… And take it from us, it’s not travelers.

Take it from My Lan Tran, executive director of @VAAsianChamber...
Expanding access at DCA would "boost business development and enhance tourism in Potomac Yard and across the region, creating a ripple effect of economic benefits in Virginia."

FACT CHECK: If flight operations at DCA are lower today than they were 20 years ago – and there was no concern about capacity then – it makes current claims that DCA is ‘bursting at the seams’ unequivocally false.

I rise today in strong support for the FAA Reauthorization Act of 2024.
This bill, negotiated by Chair @SenatorCantwell and myself with the leadership of the House Transportation & Infrastructure and Science committees, is a bicameral and bipartisan accomplishment.
I am especially proud of the numerous provisions that make for a safer and more convenient travel experience for Texans, consumers across the nation, and the provisions that will help grow Texas’s thriving aerospace sector.
This comprehensive bill bolsters the FAA at a time when the agency needs support.
ALERT: @SenTedCruz, Ranking Member of the Senate Committee on Commerce, Science, & Transportation, delivered strong remarks on the Senate floor urging colleagues to support the bipartisan bill that will increase competition & lower airline ticket prices for consumers. Watch⬇️
NEW: Seattle, WA Port Commissioner @ToshikoGrace advocates for the passage of the FAA Reauthorization bill to include the bipartisan, bicameral compromise of five additional flights @Reagan_Airport. Calling it a "win-win for both Washingtons."

San Antonio is the seventh largest city in the country. It has a joint base and has enormous numbers of military personnel, yet it does NOT have a direct nonstop flight to Reagan National Airport because of outdated, crony regulations
That's ridiculous. It's time to change that
Are you a frequent flier?
An outdated federal perimeter rule is limiting consumer choice & resulting in D.C. bound travelers burdened with the nation’s most expensive airfare. Join us in urging Congress to support bipartisan efforts to expand DCA access: https://t.co/ETGsPyPanX
Thank you, @SenatorCantwell & @SenTedCruz for standing up for consumers.
It's time for the full House and Senate to stand with air travelers by supporting this bipartisan legislation when it comes to a vote before both chambers in the days ahead.
