@brettamtpa So are a group of politicians who think they know better than what most constituents want. Look no further than the fate of Stacy White, who overturned the will of the voters to kill the transportation sales tax and stuck us with overcrowded roads instead of public transportation
@JPPetersonshow Any idea on who might be able to form a PAC to fund the ouster of any officials who vote to try to drive the Rays away from Tampa? I can promise you I'd donate to it. Knowing it's out there might also help sway anybody stupidly on the fence about this...
@DanWolken They have to be pushing a dozen by now! But I stand by the Krog District as a must visit every time I'm in Atlanta, and wish we had a Fred's Meat and Bread in Tampa!
@gregauman Not sure if it was the NFL or the Bucs, but they are giving USF the 🖕 in the Bulls final season at RJS. 4 home games have Bucs 1 pm kickoffs scheduled for the next day, possibly forcing USF to kickoff earlier than 7 pm &/or waving the white flag at midfield
@TBTimes_Sports b) on top of purely economical things, having these sports teams promotes civic pride. Every game played in Tampa includes outdoor shots of Ybor City, the beaches, etc. - promoting travel to the entire area. Stop trying to push the Rays and their 162 games/year away!
@TBTimes_Sports a) we just saw Armature Works host thousands of fans for a Premier League festival that brought people from as far away as South Africa. They bought hotel rooms, food, etc., and wouldn't have come without the improvement and having local sports fans... 1/2
@Mike1625 If only Hillsborough County voters had approved a sales tax that would have been spent to support this.
Oh wait, they did, and then former county commissioner Stacy White sued to have it declared unconstitutional. He lives in Tennessee now after screwing us all over...
@tyhildenbrandt Women's gymnastics and swimming are also all gone. Swimming in SoFi w/ 60,000+ seats is sold out? That would be billions in dollars! Does anybody think scalpers are really going to wait 2+ years to be out that kind of money?
@tyhildenbrandt The LA Olympics will be a good follow up. I got the opportunity to buy tickets in the first lottery - all of men's basketball (22 sessions in the Clippers arena) show as sold out. 18,300 tickets x $1,000 average = more than $400 MM in sales?
@TorelloSports The # of fans who can’t see that a Big East job where they average > 8K in attendance & no football has way more resources & short term upside than USF is jarring.
