Addressing the Global #UNCLOS LLDC workshop in Bolivia, @USGRabab_UN called for rights under #UNCLOS to translate into meaningful participation and equitable benefits for LLDCs, supported by #APoA.

It’s a true honor to be appointed by H.E. António Guterres as a member of the @UN High-Level Panel on Freedom of Transit for Landlocked Developing Countries (HLP-FoT).

As our world changes, so too must the way we approach development. We need to innovate, challenge traditional approaches, and find new models and methods fit for a new era, especially for countries facing unique geographic and development challenges.

With 32 landlocked developing countries facing barriers to transit and global markets, I look forward to working alongside fellow Panel members to explore practical solutions that can create greater connectivity, opportunity, and prosperity.

My sincere thanks to H.E. António Guterres (@antonioguterres) and H.E. Rabab Fatima (@USGRabab_UN) for their trust and confidence. I’m excited to contribute to this important work.

For the world’s 32 landlocked developing countries – and the more than 600 million people who live in them – overcoming geographical constraints and withstanding shocks are not abstract issues.
They determine whether a farmer can reach a market, a child can learn online, a family can access electricity, or a community can withstand the next crisis.
My vision for the General Assembly’s 81st session includes keeping countries in special situations, like LLDCs, at the centre of our work.
I pledge to do just that.
