Every decision of the Navy’s discharge review board contains the word “discharge.” Type “discharge” into the board’s own search bar and it finds 237 of its 35,940 files. That’s 0.7%.

Yesterday, October 1, was the Defense Department's deadline to summarize and index the decisions of the military's discharge review and correction boards, so the public could finally see what they decide. The deadline came and went.
So today we launch the Institute for Constitutional Military Law, and with it The Reading Room, 305,391 board decisions, summarized, indexed and searchable, free to anyone. We study how these boards decide, publish our findings, and represent veterans who qualify, free of charge.
