SECRETARY RUBIO: "In Western Europe, for the better part of 20 or 30 years, they have not had to spend on defense, because the U.S. security shield has allowed them to instead spend their money on building up a very vast and robust social safety network."
At last year’s NATO Summit, all Allies signed onto the historic Hague Defense Commitment. At next month’s NATO Summit in Ankara, we’ll see how much progress they have made in converting that commitment into real defensive capabilities.
We stand with our NATO Ally Romania and condemn this reckless incursion on its territory. Our thoughts are with the injured in Galati. We will defend every inch of NATO territory.
➡️@USOSCE CDA Rebholz joined fellow @OSCE Permanent Representatives 🇩🇪 🇳🇱 🇫🇷 🇮🇹 🇬🇧🇨🇦 in Astana and Dushanbe last week to see #OSCE field work advancing practical cooperation in Central Asia. In Astana, they met with high-level government officials, civil society, and key stakeholders to discuss @OSCEinAstana’s important work. And in Dushanbe @OSCEDushanbe, the delegation visited the Border Management Staff College and the OSCE-supported Nizhniy Panj post on the Tajik-Afghan border. There they met with border officials, civil society, and reviewed projects supporting transport digitalization and women’s resource services.
SECRETARY RUBIO: We signed a critical minerals agreement with Armenia - a reminder of another war President Trump helped settle.
We are seeing the emergence of a great new relationship with Armenia that really had grown stagnant for a long period of time.
Today in Yerevan, Armenian Foreign Minister @AraratMirzoyan and I announced a bilateral framework agreement on the Trump Route for International Peace and Prosperity (TRIPP) and signed a Strategic Partnership Charter and MOU on Critical Minerals, furthering the goals established during @POTUS’s historic peace summit between Armenia and Azerbaijan. We also discussed the peace process and Armenia’s upcoming elections.
.@SecRubio delivers remarks as he signs a strategic partnership charter with Armenian Foreign Minister Ararat Mirzoyan:
"This agreement marks the biggest step to date on making this historic route a reality, on advancing peace and on increasing prosperity—in Armenia, and, frankly, on the region."
Leaving Sweden after productive NATO meetings. The goal is to have a NATO that is strong. The stronger our NATO Allies are, the stronger NATO is going to be.
We remember the fallen.
We honor their sacrifice.
We cherish the freedom they paid for with their lives.
Memorial Day 2026 | Arlington National Cemetery 🇺🇸
America was built, defended, and preserved by those willing to give everything for it.
On Memorial Day, we honor the heroes who made the ultimate sacrifice for our nation and our freedom. We will never forget them.
At the NATO Foreign Ministers' Meeting in Sweden. Thankful for our great allies who've met their commitments to defense spending, proving that alliances are partnerships, not one way streets.
In my meeting with @SecGenNATO I underscored that the Alliance must unambiguously commit at the upcoming Ankara Summit to rapidly scale defense production, expand our transatlantic defense industrial base, and turn spending commitments into real warfighting capabilities. A stronger Europe means a stronger NATO.
Thanks to PM Andrej Babiš and all of the healthcare professionals in Prague who are taking care of the American evacuated from the Ebola outbreak. We are deeply appreciative for Czechia’s help.
SECRETARY RUBIO: I don’t think anyone is shocked to know that the United States and the President are very disappointed in NATO right now.
If NATO countries like Spain are denying us the use of these bases, why are we in NATO? We need to discuss that.
CDA Rebholz: Thank you @MFA_KZ for a thoughtful, engaging conversation on how we can reform the @OSCE to bring the organization back to core functions, strengthen border security, and counter transnational crime.
