Thursday, December 7th, marks National Pearl Harbor Remembrance Day and is the 83rd anniversary since the attack in Hawaii that began the U.S.'s involvement in World War II.

Every November, the Nation celebrates National American Indian Heritage Month. It’s an opportunity to recognize the rich and diverse cultures, traditions, stories, and significant contributions of Native American and Alaska Native peoples.
The first Cleveland (C 19/PG 33/CL 21) was decommissioned in Boston, MA on November 1, 1929, and sold for scrapping March 17, 1930 in accordance with the Washington Naval Treaty limiting naval armament.
The second Cleveland (CL 55) was launched on November 1, 1941. Her sponsor was Mrs. Selma Florence Smith Burton, wife of Senator Harold H. Burton (former three-term mayor of Cleveland).
Today marks the National Day of the Deployed.
This day honors all service members who have been deployed in service of our country. The day also acknowledges the sacrifices that military families make during deployment.

Since 1972, each CNO has encouraged a Navy-wide celebration of this occasion “to enhance a greater appreciation of our Navy heritage, and to provide a positive influence toward pride and professionalism in the naval service.”
