What you’re missing is that you don’t let a young, All-Star caliber player who wants to be a Giant walk if you have the opportunity to sign him long-term.

Elite contact hitters are incredibly rare in today’s game. A player who can consistently hit for average, rack up hits, get on base, and set the tone at the top of the lineup doesn’t come around often. Add in the fact that he wants to be here, and that’s exactly the type of player you build around.

The Giants also have a wave of young talent coming through the system. Having a veteran like Arraez “who is young” around to show those guys what it means to be a true professional—how to prepare every day, make consistent contact, and approach the game the right way—is invaluable.

Not everything is about home runs. Championship teams need players who get on base, keep innings alive, and create scoring opportunities. Those kinds of players are becoming harder and harder to find. When you have one who wants to be here, you don’t let him walk.

You couldn’t be more wrong. The amount of hate you throw at Willy is honestly ridiculous.

Has he had the best season statistically? No. But he’s brought something this team has desperately needed—energy, leadership, personality, and genuine joy for the game. That’s not fake, and it absolutely matters over a 162-game season.

People who’ve actually been around baseball understand you don’t sulk every time you’re struggling. You show up, work, stay positive, and keep leading your teammates. That’s exactly what he’s done.

He’s been a culture-changing addition to this organization. Maybe it’s time to appreciate that instead of looking for reasons to tear him down.
