Another thing that may alleviate this is the Boomers will start dying off soon, so there may be a tremendous wealth transfer in the next two decades.

People without assets really struggle succeeding in that, unfortunately. We may have to live a bit more like the Chinese.

@CDHenry_PA @LenaandLucy While it may not be ideal and demands discipline, if people shift away from the consumption-based mindset and embrace prudence and discipline, we can still make it work. Possibly even turn it into a rental property.

It's just a matter of adapting to a different way of living.

With approximately half of a $400k home paid off, any couple earning around the national median combined income could realistically afford it.
