United Tech & Allied Workers, organising across UK & NI | The first union for tech workers, by tech workers | National branch of @cwunews | 📧 [email protected]
"Hundreds of redundancies were announced just one week before [workers] were due to vote on union recognition"
Union busting at TikTok. Workers who were organising in the @UTAW_uk (part of the @CWUnews) were targeted, harassed and sacked.
As part of PSC's Workplace Day of Action tech workers from Google DeepMind in London have been protesting their employer's shameful complicity with Israel's genocidal military attacks on Palestinians. No tech for genocide! With @UTAW_uk
TikTok chopped almost 500 London trust and safety workers to avoid a union ballot.
Many of these crucial staff were on below London Living Wages, and now face the certainty of a new year with no job.

CWU inspired policy has PASSED both Houses of Parliament.
"The Employment Rights Bill is a genuine improvement to millions of working people’s lives that has been fought for by unions after nearly a decade of campaigning. These positive changes will now become law, despite the best efforts of unelected Lords and bad bosses.
However, the work does not stop here. The CWU, alongside other unions, will continue to campaign for the swift and effective implementation of the policies in the legislation. We will also keep campaigning for the government to go further and introduce sectoral collective bargaining, tackle the gig economy and introduce a single status of worker.
Today must also herald the beginning of a new style of business leadership in the UK. CEO’s and shareholders should be motivated by building companies that provide decently-paid, secure jobs, rather than awarding themselves record pay, while their workers are paid poverty wages. This is what will secure long-term, sustainable growth for our entire economy.
We will be pushing the Labour government to go further and fully empower both workers and trade unions over the next few years and once again, we encourage every worker in the country to join a trade union."
Dave Ward, CWU General Secretary.
A straight line from degrowth, decomputing (@danmcquillan) to Woodcraft Folk "offering an antidote to a digital-centric, anxious society."

Absolutely shameful that @LabourStudents accepted sponsorship from TikTok who are anti union and actively trying to undermine @CWUnews members there. If they would rather take big money than stand with workers then they should be in another political party
