The idea of atonement did not begin with Christianity. it existed throughout the Old Testament long before Jesus. Jesus fulfilled the ultimate sacrifice.

There are also plenty verses from Quran commanding violence. Why would the Quran come after the New Testament which is clearly better?

After the old testament God decided to introduce a new covenant for everyone not just Israelites. The teachings and life of Jesus can be applied till today.
