๐๏ธ Michael Carrick on Manchester Unitedโs defeat to Como:
โWeโre disappointed with the result. We had moments where we could have done better, but we werenโt clinical enough. Credit to Como, they took their chances. We have to take responsibility, learn from this and respond in the next game.โ

๐จCesc Fabregas on Comoโs victory over Carrickโs Manchester United:
โข Reporter: Cesc, congratulations. What did you see from Manchester United tonight that allowed you to control and ultimately beat them so convincingly?
๐ฃ๏ธFabregas: โThank you. From the first minutes it was clear they were not fully settled in their structure. We knew they like to build with longer possession sequences, keeping the ball in midfield and looking for progressive options through Bruno or the wide players, but the distances between their lines were too big. When the midfield sits in a shape that neither screens the centre-backs properly nor pressures the player receiving between the lines, the space appears very quickly. Nico found it early โ he received from Da Cunha, Maguire was left to deal with him one-on-one on the edge of the box, and the finish was clean. That goal was not just quality; it was the result of their midfield not controlling the central corridor the way they intended.
I have respect for Michael. He was a fine player and he has clear ideas. But the question is whether the ideas are matching the players available on the pitch. When you try to play a more controlled game, you need the double pivot to dictate the tempo and protect the centre-backs at the same time. Tonight that balance was missing. Santos and Tielemans were not able to occupy the zones that stop the ball reaching players like Nico or Douvikas in dangerous areas. Then at half-time he makes changes โ Amad and Baleba come on โ which is logical if you want more energy, but the structure does not improve. Within minutes Douvikas is running into the gap between Maguire and De Ligt, and later Balebaโs loose pass is taken by Nico, who drives straight through. Those are not isolated mistakes. They come from the same positional problem: the midfield is neither compact enough to protect nor progressive enough to hurt us consistently.
Their attacking patterns also stayed quite predictable. When they tried to go wide or look for Mount and Bruno combinations, we were ready because the movements were similar and the full-backs were not offering enough support in the half-spaces. We could step out and press with numbers because we trusted our shape. That is what we prepared โ not to park the bus, but to force them into decisions they did not look comfortable making. Once we scored the second, the game opened even more and the defensive vulnerabilities became obvious. You cannot leave those kinds of corridors if you want to play the way they are trying to play.
It is football. Sometimes the ideas look good on paper and in training, but on the pitch against a team that is organised and brave, the gaps show. We identified that before the game and we exploited it. The players executed it very well. That is what matters.
Decided to watch a Manchester United game today and oh my God, what an absolute shit show from them. ๐ญ๐
I was left genuinely wondering, how do their fans always have the guts to cuss out other clubs when this is what they watch every week. LIKE HOW??? ๐ญ๐ญ
Someone pls explain ๐ญ๐๐ผ
