RV function deterioration was found to be further associated with poor outcome in PAH, regardless of changes in PVR. Find this @JACCJournals publication here: https://t.co/M0c3WbxFbk 6/6
Management of #PulmonaryHypertension (PH) involves a careful evaluation of right ventricular (RV) function. Indicators of RV function have long been associated with outcomes in #PulmonaryArterialHypertension and in other groups of PH. 1/6
A study of 110 PAH patients found that RV ejection fraction over 35% was a stronger predictor of mortality than measured pulmonary vascular resistance (PVR). Patients who had stable or improved RV ejection fraction on therapy had significantly better survival over time. 5/6
The probability of achieving effective dose delivery may be increased by using DPIs with increased device resistance, particularly in a real-world scenario where a patient may inhale comfortably. 5/5 https://t.co/vcfbB6WzPU
Inhaled therapies have been utilized in #PulmonaryArterialHypertension (PAH) since 2004 with the approval of inhaled iloprost and 2009 with the approval of inhaled treprostinil. 1/5
In this study evaluating 35 PAH patients, individuals showed sufficient respiratory strength to utilize a dry powder inhaler (DPI), particularly with higher device resistance. 4/5 https://t.co/vcfbB6WzPU
The median time between RHCs was 9 months and they found that key hemodynamic parameters increased over time in their ILD study cohort, underscoring the importance of close monitoring and potentially repetition of RHC to inform management. 3/3 https://t.co/kv8KjKNlU3
Patients with interstitial lung disease (ILD) are at risk of developing #PulmonaryHypertension (PH) over time as their disease progresses. PH development can worsen both symptoms and prognosis. 1/3 https://t.co/jP1BF6dWIQ https://t.co/Ya9nAkyp8Y
The rate of PH development differs between patients, but one study sought to characterize PH progression in 496 patients with ILD who had multiple right heart catheterizations (RHCs) as part of their lung transplant workup. 2/3
New in @PulmCirc: A real-world retrospective claims study in #PulmonaryHypertension in #InterstitialLungDisease. This study assesses the impact of treatment and healthcare resource use among those starting inhaled treprostinil versus untreated patients. https://t.co/6hGNFDEKsc
A new study by @SandeepSahayMD et al. published in Therapeutic Advances in Respiratory Disease (@TARespirDis) reports real-world patterns of initial treatment in #PulmonaryArterialHypertension management. Read more here: https://t.co/loeTmSqFfW
A new manuscript by Clarke M. et al., published in Advances in Therapy, consolidates data from over 100 patients transitioning between treprostinil formulations to support individualized therapeutic management in #PulmonaryArterialHypertension. https://t.co/sszyOPuKbL
We are excited to announce the first clinical xenotransplantation in the EXPAND study of the UKidneyโข in patients with end-stage renal disease. See our press release for more details: https://t.co/vO91FYXWue
