One of our very own M.D. Ph.D. students, Jonathan Towne, was selected as a recipient of the predoctoral fellowship from the American Epilepsy Society. What an amazing accomplishment! Congratulations!! 🎉@AmEpilepsySoc#Neuroscience#Awesome
Two solar eclipses coming up in October and April! Kind of cool that I am on the right place SAT will be center spot for both ! Who is road-tripping over ?
It is an honor to be selected for the predoctoral fellowship by the @AmEpilepsySoc. Thank you for this opportunity to advance pre-operative mapping in #epilepsy through #neuroimaging#biomarker development!
Congrats to DMP student Luke Lussier for his new paper, “Image-guided intravascular brachytherapy dose escalation”, published recently in the Brachytherapy journal!

Congrats to Jacob Buatti for proposing his dissertation research! We're looking forward to seeing how your work will help innovate radiation therapy treatment planning!
Her work demonstrated minimal structural overlap between BA and SUD, although both chiefly involved brain regions known to be functionally engaged by reward tasks. SUD-associated brain abnormalities were found to be more extensive than those of BA.
Dissertation Spotlight: Congratulations again to Duaa Banaja, Ph.D. for successfully defending her dissertation! Our grads have done some incredible work!
Title: "Mapping and Network Modeling of Structural Brain Abnormalities in Addiction Disorders"
Mentor: Dr. Peter Fox
Dr. Banaja's work investigated the neurological similarities in behavioral addictions (BA) to substance use disorders (SUD). She used coordinate-based meta-analyses (CBMA) to overcome sample size limitations and pooled data from all published findings.
🎓Congratulations to all the brilliant students graduating from the Radiological Sciences program! Your dedication, perseverance, and countless hours of study have finally paid off!!! 📚🎉

The group proposed the installment of community gardens paired with a health and wellness education program to increase vegetables in diet, promote exercise, and educate individuals and families on making healthy decisions while also reducing the cost burden of groceries.
Radiological Sciences Ph.D. Student, Jacob Buatti, and his group of student health professionals won 1st place in the 2022 LINC Interprofessional Case Competition! Congratulations!! #Teamwork#IPE#HealthCareTeam#MedPhys
Jacob's group investigated obesity rates in San Antonio and how low socioeconomic communities were systematically disadvantaged by poverty, resource spread caused by urban sprawl, and underdeveloped public transit and pedestrian systems.
