Some history: Boxing Day 1960 we were behind the #swfc team bus which crashed near Huntingdon. My father, a doc from Peterborough, saved the life of Doug McMillan, 19, amputating his leg in the wreckage. My mother treated the other players inc Kay & Swan. Anyone remember? #pufc

@KelvinFavell I believe Dr Sear and my father, Dr Thomas, did the amputation together. I still remember watching it all unfold. At one point, my mother, a nurse, crawled under the bus to retrieve the lost leg! The SWFC CEO visited us at home later on to make my parents honorary club members.

@caistorowl He was standing when the crash happened and his leg went through the floor of the bus. I understand he was incredibly brave the whole time. I’m told he had a promising career ahead of him.

@Dunsbyowl I remember the testimonial because my parents were invited. I would have been 8yo. A few years ago the club told me that Doug is still alive. If so, I wish him well.
