Von Meyenberg complexes (bile duct hamartomas) = classic mimic of liver mets on lap & frozens.

p53 IHC can help confirm a diagnosis of esophageal squamous dysplasia. In occasional HPV-associated cases, p16 staining is strongly reactive. This example is probably driven by a TP53 mutation. Don't expect the full thickness staining typical of glandular dysplasia.
This week, I learned not only that gangliocytic paragangliomas were reclassified by the WHO as composite gangliocytoma/neuroma and neuroendocrine tumor (CoGNET) - thank you Rhonda Yantiss - but also that they can express CD117/KIT to result in wrong diagnoses on small biopsies.
One of our talented PGY-2s, Mohamed Moustafa, presented a case report on a rare instance of GIST involving the ovary this past weekend at the Texas Society of Pathologists’ Summer Conference.

Pyloric gland adenoma in uninflamed gastric body. There is an association with autoimmune gastritis (pyloric metaplasia progressing to pyloric adenoma) but this patient does not have it. Note the appearance of the surface of the adenoma versus the adjoining foveolar epithelium.
Congratulations to our fantastic graduating fellow, @juliagallardo23. 🎉 🎉 🎉
We are thrilled to announce that Dr. Gallardo will be joining us as our 7th GI/liver fellowship-trained pathologist.
