First day on launch site didn't end in a launch for us, but we will be trying again in a few days! We had a great time, saw a bunch of other rockets launch, and fed many mosquitos. Tune in to the Launch Canada livestream either Thursday or Friday (TBD) to see Xenia-1 take flight!
UVic @BiomedicalUvic engineering professor @DrWillerth and her lab are 3D-printing bands as part of face shields for @VanIslandHealth to support their response to COVID-19.
Thanks to @Coast_Capital for your donation to support this work. 🙏
Thank you to everyone that supported us this season. We’re disappointed that Hyak-3 won’t be launched this season, but in these circumstances, the safety of everyone is what‘s important. Thank you to the organizers and next SAC. Stay safe everyone.

Due to government/university safety protocols, the bottle drive scheduled for this weekend has been postponed until further notice. Thank you to everyone that intended to help us, as every little bit helps.
The Coupler Boys in action! One of UVR’s best kept secrets, they’ve been hard at work designing, manufacturing, and testing our new coupler! With an eagerness to learn, the boys have impressed in just how quickly they’ve picked up this whole rocket thing... 🚀
Preparing the mandrel for a layup is quite the satisfying task, going from dull surface to a shiny one. This allows for high quality surface finishes on our layups! 🚀
Our propulsion and hybrid teams have been hard at work this season, developing the propulsion system for Hyak-3, but also for our hybrid test engine Mule-1. From valves, to controls, to igniters, if it relates to a big flame, it’s propulsion. 🔥🚀
This past weekend, we held our Critical Design Review (perhaps our best one yet)!
This marks the end of the main design phase. We now move into small design iterations, more extensive verification testing, and full scale manufacturing.
Thank you to everyone that came out! 🚀
What else do you do when you run out of weights? You get creative (and yes, it’s off the ground). Bending a nose cone is fairly difficult as we’ve learned... 🚀
Come check us out at Discover Tectoria! It’s a great opportunity to network, check out student teams, and see what’s going on in the Victoria tech scene. The event runs until 6:30 tonight, so we hope to see you there!
Location: 713 Douglas St, Victoria, BC V8W 2B4, Canada
With new composite combinations comes new tests! A 3-point flexural test is being conducted on a old coupler to test for deflection and to determine the properties of the non-standard materials. This data will then be validated using FEA for further analysis. 🚀
Check out our new hybrid engine instrumentation board (HIB) being developed and the end product!
Thank you to @altium for sponsoring the powerful software that allows us to do this. 🚀
We’re a little late on the mannequin challenge, but at least we’re working on the challenge of launching a rocket! 🏒🚀
Thank you to the Victoria Royals for having us out be part of Tech Night!

Our payload team tested the range of the tiny, very loud speakers that will be in our experimental Flight Data Preserver "black box" project. It aims to ensure the desert recovery of flight data in the event of a rapid unplanned disassembly. 🚀◾️⬛️◼️▪️🌵
