On June 18th 2026, Ms. SHIOTSUKA Minako and Mr. SAKAMOTO Atsuki (respectively the outgoing and incoming Chief Representatives of JICA Rwanda Office) paid a courtesy visit to WASAC’s CEO. Discussions focused on the Masaka Water Supply Project which is under the feasibility study and will be extended to serve the water to eastern Kigali & Rwamagana . The CEO reaffirmed WASAC’s strong interest and commitment to advancing it toward implementation.

This afternoon at Urugwiro Village, President Kagame received Amb. Johan Borgstam, European Union Special Representative (EUSR) for the Great Lakes Region. Their discussions covered regional developments, including the need for concrete action to address the root causes of the conflict in eastern DRC and advance a sustainable path to peace and stability.
Minister @Dominiquehab opened the 6th Steering Committee Meeting of the Pro-Poor Development Basket Fund (PPD-Basket) in Rwanda.
The meeting reviewed financial and implementation progress and approved proposed district projects for FY 2026/27.
Minister Habimana commended the initiative and urged all stakeholders to sustain its impact:
_“The PPD-Basket continues to deliver transformative Local Economic Development projects that expand citizens’ access to water, education, health, transport and agriculture, while advancing inclusive, climate-resilient and gender-responsive development.”_
Results: In just two years, PPD-Basket has supported 160+ projects nationwide. Over 101 are already completed and operational, improving livelihoods and accelerating local development across Rwanda.
Today in Doha, President Kagame met with His Highness Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani @TamimBinHamad, Amir of the State of Qatar, during his one-day working visit to Qatar.
His Highness welcomed President Kagame at the Amiri Diwan, where the two leaders discussed the strong brotherly relations between Rwanda and Qatar, as well as the continued cooperation between the two countries across key sectors of mutual benefit.
President Kagame and His Highness Sheikh Tamim also exchanged views on regional developments and current international affairs, reaffirming their shared commitment to promoting international peace and security. President Kagame expressed Rwanda’s solidarity and continued support for the people of Qatar.
