Welcome back, Badgers! We here at the DesignLab hope you had a restful break and that you're ready to get back to work. We're back, too, and here to help with any of your design questions on all kinds of projects. Make an appointment or stop on by any time during our new hours.
It's been a great spring semester, Badgers, but the summer is coming! The DesignLab will be here to help with those last minute projects until the final day of class, May 5th. We will not be open during Finals week.
Digital Salon is a curated exhibition of media projects open to all UW-Madison undergraduate and graduate students with prizes for Best-in-Show and Honorable Mentions.
Submission Deadline: Friday, March 31st, 2023
The 14th Annual Digital Salon Exhibition is currently accepting student-made submissions! The Online Exhibition will go live in April 2022 and the in-person Showcase Exhibition opens April 17th, 2023 in College Library.
It's the final week of class, which also means it's the last week to get help from the DesignLab! DesignLab's last day will be Wednesday, December 14th, so don't forget to make those last minute appts. Have a great Winter Break. We'll be here when you get back.
We're hiring! If you are a graduate student with an interest in design, come work for us in the DesignLab this spring. Students from any department are welcome to apply!
Just a quick heads-up to all students, staff, and faculty: The DesignLab will be CLOSED Wednesday November 23 through Friday November 25 in observance of the Thanksgiving holiday. Safe travels, everyone!

Last up is Lance, a Film PhD candidate in the Communication Arts department. Lance is a film comedy scholar who loves spending time at home watching movies with his fiancรฉe and his two cats, chatting with friends on Twitter, and occasionally competing on syndicated game shows.
Megan is a PhD candidate in the Communication Arts Department who describes herself as ""Digital rhetorician, avid knitter, and always wants to see a pic of your dog!"
Aybuke is a 5th year PhD student in Design Studies department, studying on the impact of correctional facilities on children who are visiting their incarcerated parents. She is also working as a part-time Design Researcher and fosters kittens in her free time.
Seijin is a Ph.D. student in Civil Society and Community Research and has a bachelor's and master's in Architectural Design. Before starting her study at UW Madison, she worked as an architect for several years. She loves to explore beautiful things and well-designed places.
Molly is excited to be returning to DesignLab this year. She's set to graduate in May with a Master of Library and Information Science and a Wisconsin Library Media Specialist License. Between DesignLab and classes, she's watching YouTube videos and reading romance novels
Meet Hande! She's a PhD student in Design Studies at the SoHE. Her bachelor is in interior architecture and environmental design. She enjoys museums and anything related to design. She also loves meeting new people, so she will be happy to meet you at DesignLab!
