Happy Friday! At today's @UWGenderGroup meeting, we discussed member Maxine's exciting chapter plans for an edited volume. Also, it was the last meeting for me (@daiki_soc), who has served as the coordinator for 3 years. Looking forward to seeing gender group's future activities!
Thank you @ufsoc for presenting his great paper, titled "Exam Retaking as a Source of Gender Stratification: The Case of Female Underrepresentation in Selective Colleges in Japan" at today's Gender Group meeting. We are looking forward to seeing it in print!
We had a great time last Friday talking about our extended abstracts for this year's @ASAnews annual meeting. Stay tuned for exciting new research projects by @UWGenderGroup members! #ASA2022
An article by members @KateKONeill, @uwsian, and our colleague @tylerjsmith90, "County Dependence on Monetary Sanctions: Implications for Women’s Incarceration," has been published as part of a @RussellSageFdn special issue featuring @AlexesHarris's study of monetary sanctions!
At today’s @UWGenderGroup meeting, we discussed @LawrenceWStacey’s exciting work on parental attitudes toward children’s gender nonconformity using a vignette experiment. Looking forward to seeing it published!
Hearty congratulations to @ArianeOphir, whose article on repartnering and housework previously workshopped at @UWGenderGroup has just been published in @JMF_NCFR! https://t.co/9dEjCiM1pa
Thanks @ArianeOphir for workshopping her paper on repartnering and the household division of labor! Great work, and we are looking forward to seeing it in print.
At today's @UWGenderGroup meeting, group member @RyanDeCarsky workshopped a draft survey for his MA research on Deaf-Queer/LGBTQ+ people in the United States. This is such an important project, and we look forward to learning more as his project evolves!
Happy Monday! At today's hybrid meeting, we discussed group member Audrey's reading list/narrative rationale for her comprehensive exam in families and work. We wish Audrey the best of luck on the exam!
Earlier today, we had the first Fall meeting of the UW Gender and Sexuality Graduate Research Cluster. The six of us had a great time sharing our goals for the quarter and checking in about the progress and the struggles of our academic and personal lives!
Are you planning your schedule for #ASA2021 that starts tomorrow? Group member @RyanDeCarsky will be the presider for "Sexualities and Gender Asymmetries" (Sun, 8/8, 11:00am-12:25pm EDT) and a session organizer for "Decolonizing Sexualities Studies" (Tue, 8/10, 2:30-3:55pm EDT)!
Group member @ccgilroy's article "Digital Traces of Sexualities: Understanding the Salience of Sexual Identity through Disclosure on Social Media," which was previously workshopped at @UWGenderGroup, has just been published in @SociusJournal. Huge congrats to Connor!
New publication with @ridhikash07 in @SociusJournal! Who says who they're "interested in" on Facebook? Those selective patterns of disclosure tell us about how the salience of sexual identity varies by age, gender, and relationship status.
