We’re excited to announce our new major: agroecology!
Agroecology strives to make #agriculture and #foodSystems more sustainable. It shapes ecosystems to support human health and well-being. Learn more: https://t.co/eJhmM8R63u
Per stakeholder request, we're digging into how cereal rye #covercrop fall drilling timing, variety selection, and seeding rate affect spring biomass accumulation. Stay tuned!
Curious about @FFaleco's research on characterization of PPO-inhibitor resistance in #giantragweed, multiple herbicide resistance in #waterhemp, and the effect of increased temperatures on #herbicide efficacy?
Join us Wednesday, April 23 2025, at 10AM CT!
From nitrate concentrations in western WI groundwater to soil nutrient application planning our soil and water breakout session will explore farmer centric land management practices

Already seeing some hail across Wisconsin today.
A Level 1/5 risk of severe thunderstorms continues today day for western portions of the state. A level 2/5 risk is in place for SE WI tomorrow.

J. Henry & Sons, a local bourbon business, now uses a red corn created by @UWMadisonCALS in 1939. This red corn hibernated for decades in @UWMadison's seed vault until researchers Natalia de Leon and Shawn Kaeppler resurrected it.

We’re thrilled to welcome #Agronomy undergrads from Brazil, Livia Venturi (University of São Paulo - ESALQ) and Alice Lazzari (Federal Institute of Education, Science, and Technology of Rio Grande do Sul), to the #WiscWeeds team! 🇧🇷🛫🛬🇺🇸
They’ll complete the final stage of their studies by interning with our Cropping Systems Weed Science program at @UWMadison, gaining hands-on experience in weed management research within Wisconsin’s agricultural cropping systems. Excited for what’s ahead!

Frosty start to #ElectionDay in Wisconsin, but don't let that discourage you - the weather's going to be great for voting today.
Polls close at 8 pm.
We'll have an update on tomorrow's severe weather threat in a few hours!
One of the missions of our #WiscWeeds program is to provide hands-on weed science and agronomy research experience to the next generation of practitioners.
It’s been an honor having Gage Anderson, a Spring 2025 BIO 152 undergrad researcher, working alongside our grad student Daniel Zhu in the greenhouse. Their research focuses on synergistic herbicide mixtures for postemergence grass control in Wisconsin corn fields where atrazine and/or glyphosate are not used @wicorngrowers.
Gage is an Agronomy undergrad @UWMadisonPAS and an active member of the Badger Crops Club, mentored by @cmanibas. This summer Gage will be interning with @SyngentaUS working under the mentorship our former grad student, Dr. @JoseJr_Nunes. Exciting to see the next generation gaining valuable research experience!
We're posting on behalf of our partners, the UW Organic Collaborative!
Join us April 8th and 9th for an international summit themed "Organic Agriculture as a Solution to Global Challenges."
