📢#Match2022 Announcement📢
Bad news: So far our chief residents have not figured out Twitter.
Good news: We have been super active on Instagram @UWPsychRes (not to be confused with the corresponding Twitter account)
I have had fun starting this account and have passed on the baton, but I will continue Tweeting about psychiatry, mental health, neuroscience, health inequities, and more @DrKatLiang . Feel free to follow, I'll follow back and we can continue to discuss all of the above!👋

Thank you to everyone who followed and supported us in our first foray into the #psychtwitter#MedTwitter#MedStudentTwitter#MedEd world! At some point our chiefs may revive this account so I will say #TTFN, not goodbye.
Well this explains a lot.
What percentage of the general population meets criteria for at least one personality disorder?

Thank you to the @quellfoundation for their support of collaborative care & telehealth! Their generosity will ensure that research and clinical advances in population-based mental health care reaches early career psychiatrists. @UWPsychChiefs@uwmnewsroom https://t.co/kdiEIyIKL7
2nd Annual @UWPsychiatry Resident Research Day in the books! We are so impressed by breadth of resident scholarly work and inspired by our keynote speaker @Srijan_SenMDPhD who talked with us about the @InternHealth study and encouraged us to be BOLD with our research ideas!

When we decline reviewing, it’s like not voting - our voices are not heard. At the same time, not offering compensation is a form of voter suppression - the barriers are felt the most strongly by those at the bottom. #AcademicTwitter#AcademicChatter
Our anti racism workgroup and research track teamed up recently to explore race and gender bias in academic scholarship. This is one of the papers we discussed in our workshop.
Privilege is when pay is not a factor in your decision of doing extra academic work. Women decline reviewing articles at a higher rate than men, which is likely related to the unequal burden of unpaid work they are already doing at their institutions and at home. #AcademicChatter
@SwethaUppal @amaestas369 Relax and recharge! Don’t study. If you spend time preparing, spend time setting up “adult” things (finances, choosing a health insurance plan, health maintenance like dentist/glasses) because you won’t have time to deal with them once the intern train takes off!

If I do not use Dr.
➡️Patients ask, “When is the doctor is coming?”
➡️Nurses say “Give this to the doctor please.”
➡️Other docs ask, “Are you the interpreter?”
➡️Uber drivers ask, “Are you a nurse?”
All true stories, and many more.

Read Isabel Wilkerson’s Caste with my book club and now I see it everywhere. She just did it again in her keynote when pointing out the two countries with leading COVID cases:
“One has the world’s oldest caste system and one has a less recognized one.” #APAAM21
