Today, I had the privilege of attending the Premier Academy #ModelUN General Assembly on behalf of the Resident Coordinator ai @ElsieAttafuah. The theme, “Digital Transformation of the Education Sector as a driver of sustainable development” is not only timely, it is transformational. Through the model UN, the United Nations Information Center is empowering young people to understand #diplomacy, embrace #multilateralism, and learn the art of dialogue, tolerance, and consensus-building. Critical skills in today’s world.

“Disability inclusion, women’s rights & equality are inseparable” - UN

@UNFPANigeria partnership with Disability Working Group, a coalition of organisations for people with disabilities in #Nigeria, focuses on creating enabling environment for meaningful inclusion and participation. Our partnership has:

✅supported the domestication of the Disability Rights Law and the establishment of the Yobe State Commission for Persons with Disabilities
✅trained the Commission and key stakeholders on effective implementation of the Law while ensuring meaningful inclusion of persons with #disabilities across Northeast Nigeria
✅sustained advocacy toward the signing of the domesticated Disability Rights Law in Borno and Adamawa State

As we mark International Women’s Month, disability inclusion is central to Rights, Justice & Action!

Smart investment!

During my recent visit to #Maiduguri #Borno, I visited a One Stop Center which is providing #SRH, #GBV, #PSS to displaced women & girls and host communities. After years of protracted conflict, this One Stop Center is a safe haven and symbol of #hope and #resilience.

📍#Maiduguri #Borno 🇳🇬

In Maiduguri, Borno State this week, I visited an integrated health facility in Muna camp which is providing lifesaving #reproductive #health, #protection services and skills training to internally displaced women and girls. Managed by Ministry of Women’s Affairs with support from @UNFPANigeria, the integrated facility is a lifeline.

Despite immense challenges at the camp and host community, I met women and girls determined to rebuild their lives after protracted displacement which disrupted livelihoods and access to services.

In awe of the #nurses, #midwives and team of #volunteers for their unwavering commitment and dedication.

Unlocking economic opportunities for internally displaced women & girls requires inclusive finance and digital access. Public-private - partnerships can break barriers and unlock opportunities to women and girls to rebuild their lives. When people are banked and connected, they create, grow, and sustain dignified livelihoods.

@UNFPANigeria is promoting financial and digital inclusion in North East Nigeria through:

✔️Cash based assistance using mobile money
✔️Livelihood and economic opportunities offered at Women and Girls Safe Spaces
✔️Digital literacy and digital marketing
