A doctor from Karnataka, De Nagarappa discovered on 22 July that illegal Bangladeshi immigrants were residing in the state and approached the Bengaluru Police requesting their deportation.

But here's the twist.

Instead of initiating action against the illegal immigrants, the Bengaluru Police registered an FIR against the Kannadiga doctor itself, based on the complaint of the very same illegal Bangladeshi immigrants.

The matter reached the High Court, which came down heavily on the Karnataka Police. The Court questioned how the police could act on the complaint of a person who, in the FIR itself, admitted to being a Bangladeshi national.
The Court further asked whether the police were working for illegal immigrants or for Indian citizens, and observed that the problem of illegal immigration cannot be solved if the system continues to shield those residing in the country illegally.
