Our Vision – A Flood Free Guwahati

After assuming charge as the Minister of Housing and Urban Affairs, I visited the Silsako Beel Pump House Office today along with Shri Anbamuthan M.P, CEO of GMDA and Smt. Dhira Talukdar, Deputy Chairperson of GMDA to review the ongoing pumping operations aimed at mitigating waterlogging in Guwahati.

This pumping system is playing an important role in draining out excess water and reducing waterlogging in different parts of the city. During the visit, I interacted with the officials and directed them to work with greater dedication and sincerity so that we can further strengthen the flood management system and move closer to our vision of a flood free Guwahati.

Today, I visited Juripar in the Panjabari area along with GMDA officials to assess the progress of the ongoing drain construction project, which is being undertaken to prevent waterlogging issue in the locality.

Upon completion, this project is expected to provide significant relief to the residents of Juripar and enable them to lead better lives, free from the recurring threat of artificial flooding.

During the visit, I directed officials to work with greater dedication to strengthen flood management measures and expedite the completion of ongoing projects.
