Being raised by emotionally immature parents sets us up for a lifetime of believing our role is to perform, achieve, or be responsible for other people’s emotions.
HERE’S WHY:
Every little choice in life matters. Every thought that lingers, makes a difference. Everyone you hang around shapes your life. Every tiny action towards your dreams adds up. What you build today decides your tomorrow.
I make a conscious effort to stay away from Nigerians abroad who spend every waking moment obsessing over racism. Not because racism doesn’t exist, it certainly does, but because choosing to center your entire life around it is also a choice. If you want to see racism every single day in America, you will find it. If you want to focus on opportunities, growth, and building a better life, you’ll find those too. How you choose to navigate and respond to your environment is ultimately up to you.
I have plenty of issues with Trump, but he’s not the issue here. The real issue is the entitlement of Somalia’s political elite and the abuse of diplomatic privileges. At some point we need to stop blaming everyone else and start holding the men running Somalia accountable.
He’s the President of the United States — not your ex, not your personal villain, and not the cause of your misery. You don’t have to support him. That’s America.
But if someone is simply backing the sitting President and it makes you rage, cut people off, attack families, or act like garbage — you are the problem.
You’ve turned politics into a personality disorder: nonstop outrage and toddler meltdowns online. Grow up. He won. The sky didn’t fall. Pay your bills, care for your family, touch grass, and move on.
I reiterate; this is our WORST democratic government since 1999
No amount of gaslighting, intimidation, lies & tribal bigotry will change that fact.
We have never had it this bad.
Canadians have had the luxury of US security which has allowed us to call them vulgar, ignorant, violent and beneath us.
All the while they have built Microsoft, Apple, sent men to the moon, gave us Hollywood which gobbled up our talent, built the strongest military in history, built a society that attracted the best and brightest from around the world, spent more on alliances and aid than the world combined and created Silicon Valley, Ivy League schools and the best hospitals in the world.
This under different Presidents and parties.
While Canada debates a rail project that will never exist and bemoans what the Avro arrow could have been the US is sending a rocket to the moon and rescued an airman in a Hollywood style operation all in the same week.
Canada can't rest on Vimy ridge or Juno Beach any longer. We need to recapture what we once were. We can no longer afford our arrogance based on nothing tangible. Our superiority complex now comes off as insecurity and jealousy.
One thing that is admirable, regardless of your personal opinions, is the "no man left behind" motto in the US military: They will move heaven and earth to find and rescue someone stuck behind enemy lines.
As an immigrant, resist the urge to over share some details about your life on X or other social media platform. These things will come to bite you in the butt now or later. I learnt the hard way 😭😭
