#FIDE100#Award - Best Player Woman
A special award for me, which I received in the presence of my parents, sisters and my husband in my hometown. ❤I owe my success to my perseverance, my fighting spirit and my creativity, for which I can be grateful to my family.

Dear Friends and Chess Enthusiasts,
I am Abimbola Ayotomiwa Osunfuyi, A team member of the Nigeria national chess team and a fide master master from Nigeria, and I have recently traveled from the United States to represent Nigeria at the 45th Chess Olympiad in Budapest, Hungary. It’s a proud moment for me and my team, but we are facing an unexpected challenge.
My teammates, who have also worked tirelessly to prepare for this prestigious event, have unfortunately encountered visa issues, and their applications are currently under appeal. This has put us in a difficult position, as their participation is crucial for us to compete as a complete team, and I can't participate as an individual entity on a team event 😕.
I am reaching out to the Hungarian Ministry of Tourism with a heartfelt plea to reconsider their visa applications. Team Nigeria Chess has prepared diligently for this Olympiad, and their presence would not only complete our team but also honor the spirit of international competition and camaraderie that the Chess Olympiad represents.
Thank you for your understanding and support. Together, let’s make this event a true representation of what chess stands for: unity, perseverance, and respect.
Sincerely,
Fm Abimbola Ayo Osunfuyi

Heard Robert Gwaze is back to playing after a long hiatus from chess. His comeback is even sweeter with his latest victory in the just concluded tournament in Namibia. He had a clean slate, winning with 7/7.
I recall playing for the Milton Keynes Phoenix in the 2016 Four Nation Chess League (4NCL) in Telford, England. I had three people ask me about Gwaze and how Phenomenal a player he was until he stopped playing.
I have always had a likening for Gwaze and his style of play. I believe he is still one of the best chess players from Africa. With his latest victory, IM Gwaze (2426) will stand tall as the #1 player in Zimbabwe for the June 2024 rating list, displacing compatriot —IM Farai Mandizha (2374).
Congratulations Robert Gwaze, that's such a nice way to come back. We hope to see more of you on the big stage.
