I don’t really like when staff do this. If I give you a gift, that’s different but salary is something you’ve worked for, not a favor.

I paid my staff on the 29th, and one of them called me the next morning, even handing the phone to her mum to thank and pray for me. I appreciated the gesture, but I had to gently let her know it’s not necessary.

Salary is a right earned through work, not something to be thanked for. Of course, mutual respect and appreciation at work is important but it shouldn’t be tied to something that’s an obligation.
