The High Commissioner of @UgandaCanberra, H.E. Dorothy Samali Hyuha, on Sunday, 28 June 2026, joined the faithful at St Mary’s Star of the Sea Cathedral in Darwin for Holy Mass celebrated by the Most Reverend Charles Victor Emmanuel Gauci, Bishop of Darwin and the Northern Territory.
Following the Mass, Her Excellency paid a courtesy call on Bishop Gauci, during which she conveyed her appreciation to the Bishop and the Catholic faithful in the Northern Territory for their continued commemoration of the Uganda Martyrs, a lasting testament to the enduring spiritual and historical ties between Uganda and the universal Church.
Her Excellency also extended an invitation to Bishop Gauci to participate in the Uganda Martyrs Day celebrations in Uganda. Their discussions explored opportunities for continued collaboration in community development, education, and humanitarian initiatives, while acknowledging the valuable contribution of the Ugandan diaspora to the social and economic development of communities in the Northern Territory.
The High Commissioner was accompanied by members of the Executive of the Uganda Community in the Northern Territory, led by Mr Crescent Gumisiriza, President, and Mrs Racheal Bakwesegha-Summersby, Vice President.

Uganda's Minister of State for Energy and Mineral Development, Hon. @PNyamutoro , Minister of State for Mineral Development, Hon. Peter Lokeris Okasai, Permanent Secretary Eng. @irenebateebe , and Uganda's High Commissioner to Australia, Amb. Dorothy Samali Hyuha, held discussions on advancing investment, innovation, technology transfer, and value addition across Uganda's energy and minerals sectors.
The meeting explored opportunities for the application of digital technologies in mineral traceability, quantification, valuation, petroleum development, solar energy expansion, infrastructure design, and addressing sector challenges such as vandalism and operational inefficiencies.

The meeting formed part of ongoing efforts by the Uganda High Commission in Canberra to forge strategic business partnerships between Uganda and Australia.

Yesterday During POATE, a group of tour operators was honourably invited for a lunch business meeting at Speke hotel by the Uganda High Commission in Canberra @ugandacanberra, led by Her Excellency Ambassador Dorothy Hyuha, to meet delegates led by Ms. #Nadine Jones, founder of Jones & Co. Collection a leading marketing and PR company.
The meeting focused on strengthening tourism collaborations between Uganda, Australia, and over 10 other countries.
I had the privilege of representing my boss, @wekesa_amos, with the responsibility of presenting why the @RwenzoriMarathon should feature in Melbourne and I’m glad to say the presentation was successfully delivered.
The Ambassador and her team expressed strong support and committed to working with us on the next steps of this journey.
It’s worth noting that Australia hosts the Melbourne Marathon, which attracts over 50,000 runners from across the globe, many with significant disposable income making it a strong platform for tourism promotion.
The @ugandacanberra team also hosted a POATE Fam Trip, taking delegates across different parts of Uganda.
